You cannot land anything until its actually in the boat. This kid is verbally committed, which means nothing until he is officially "LANDED" (signed LOI).

Hopefully it comes to fruition.

Here is a Sports Illistrated article I found. According to this, he is a top 100 recruit (#65 overall) and was also recruited by perennial power Gonzaga (among others).

Welcome Ethan!!

He’s white, but a 4-star who picked Iowa over Gonzaga. Fran landed 3-star white guys with offers from Colgate, Rice, and Alabama State A&M.

Hopefully, you see a difference.
And only Aaron White and Luka Garza played above their star ranking... don't even get me started on the Murray bros. It was travesty they sat so Patrick could "play".

Really impressed with his handles. He’s not A.White, who was much more raw and athletic. This guy has guard skills at 6’9. My comp is Ryan Bowen with a jump shot.
He's much better than Ryan was coming out of HS and it's not really close imo. Bowen hustled and was fairly quick but lacked technical skills at the same age.

agreed and he appears to light on his feet/movement which is obviously beneficial for any athlete IMO

For anyone who might know, I’d like to see a comparison/contrast between Ethan Harris, Trey Thompson, and Cooper Koch. All are multi-faceted forwards in the 6-8/6-9 range. How are their games similar? How are they different? Theoretically, they could all play together at Iowa for 3 years … could all 3 be on the floor at the same time?

They totally could, in fact, McCollums best teams played 3 forwards at once. Ethan Harris recently said Mac has 3 positions. True center, point guard, hybrid. All of these guys can guard 2,3 and 4 positions.

I’d actually be surprised if that wasnt the plan tbh.

The thing about gingers they have an edge due to the constant name calling, no matter how good they are, someone is always comparing them to carrot top. Hardens a man against the world.

Harris, Thompson & Cooper epitomize 3 of McCollum’s hybrid types.
Harris is the most all around skilled.
Cooper the best shooter.
Thompson the most physical.
All good passers & distributors of the ball.
Harris plays angry, with the competitive edge which McCollum adores.
Thompson has said that sometimes he sees the game in slow motion, which helps his decision making.
Looking forward to McCollum maximizing each of their strengths, instead of trying to turn all 3 into the same player.
