Can confirm Pat Fitzgerald was at game in all Iowa gear last night. Saw him post game waiting for his son to come out.
that is an all timer at a school with Dwight and Coop.
Best part of that whole play?
He gathered that thing in over-the-shoulder with his back nearly to the where the ball came from and perfectly 'stuck the landing'.
He bobbles that even the slightest bit and Iowa's likely pinned inside its own 20 to start that drive.

Oh he bobbled it. It was right in front of us. It slid in his hands but still made the play. It was amazing.
Oh. Well that makes the whole play and end result even more spectacular.
From the camera angle on TV, he caught it clean then turned and took off.
That poor punter bombs an unbelievable punt that is going to go out of bounds inside the 5, and Wetjen rips his heart out fielding it and taking it to the house..

Wetjen is a pretty great returner. That game against ISU was an anomaly.
Sideline reporter:" I asked coach what are you going to do to counter Wetjen's runbacks? Coach said we're going to kick it out of bounds."

I was impressed with their punter -he bombed several punts. I think he will do well in the transfer portal!
A return like that is always cool, but far less so against such poor competition. Do it against somebody with a pulse when it can turn the game around. That would be kinda nice, like DJK's kickoff return vs. somebody called Ohio State . . . in Columbus. Yah, THAT was slick.
One other thing I learned from a football staff member on Saturday is that the Player Leadership Council makes the call on what jerseys get worn. He was asked if a gold out why the players weren't wearing gold uniforms. He said the PLC voted to wear standard uniform. They decide before the season what will be worn for each game. Any alt uniforms are suggested by them. The staff member stated KF doesn't involve himself in it. Could not see him doing that unless he felt some design was just outrageous.
