Last week, the Hawks of Maine South did just as I predicted and went to Six Flags and beat up on Warren. There are a handful of some pretty good games in illinois this week. but I am gonna go national and say the all gas, no brakes Flyers of East St Louis head to Sin City and take down the #2 ranked team in the country, Bishop Gorman in a high scoring back and forth affair. Per Massey, Marist is a favorite with a 69% win probability. I like this pick. Would not shock me to see Montini thump Marist.
All.... This could be an interesting game. MS graduated stud qb Lucas Dyer. They will come in with a run first offense but will have to up their passing attack. The Spartans are coached by Joe Ryan brother of former Metamora HC Pat Ryan. A few lean years when he took over the Spartans program putting in his system has produced good results over the years. I could be mistaken and 4Afan would know but I thought I heard Coach Ryan is retiring after this season. So possibly coming into play as well is the rah rah lets send coach out with a good 2025 season. Ratsy

If Rita was to beat BR it would be a big upset. Rita had to come from behind to beat Marist at home 28-21 scoring the go ahead touchdown with a few seconds on the clock. BR went to Marist and beat Marist in a shutout by 35 points. BR should be a 28 point favorite looking at this small sample of one common opponent. While I root with my heart, I bet with my head. I'll be rooting for the mustangs and a win would be a HUGE upset. The BR team is highly rated. They have a lot talent on that team. While I don't give too much emphasis on freshmen records, you don't beat MC and Loyola both in consecutive years w/o a lot of talent.

Yes, Sycamore's coach Ryan is retiring at the end of the year. Not sure what to think of Sycamore yet. I've been surprised by both of their games, only beating Dekalb by 1 and losing to Moline in OT. Would have thought those would both be easy wins.
Will have our first measuring stick between Morris and Sycamore after tonight as Morris played MS last week.

I hope you're right, I just can't get there. I was only partially sandbagging because Thorson is winless against Peoria in 4 or 5 tries, including at least 2 in the playoffs. For some reason he keeps thinking he can go up and down the field with Peoria. For Morris to win the need to slow the game down and limit Peoria's possessions.
Will this be the Brooks last game for a while? Any inside info on whether there's a chance they avoid the teacher's strike set for next Thursday?
From what I hear it could happen, but I've only talked to one person about it. Hope they get it done obviously. Heard another local district recently got multiples of what theyre asking for here.
My son teaches in the district and he is not real optimistic. Hoping they are able to come to an agreement.

The Brook beating Oswego was real close to being my upset pick. I like their chances tonight.
If they play a clean game on STs and limit the turnovers. Cant give Oswego 4 extremely short fields like they did H-F or 2 KO returns like they did Simeon, and expect to win.
All.... Don't get into a track meet and scoring contest with Peoria. The Lions will often onside kick and the Skins will have short field scoring opportunities if they mangae to recover those kicks. 100% agree, but that hasn't been the Morris coach's game plan in any of the other matchups, including a playoff game where they gave up 76 points.
