Any chance they are flying to California so Woliczko can commit in person before she does it publicly??

This is going to take another week or so.
Chad Leistikow has a tweet coming about how it's an "agonizing decision " and the family is divided.

I am guessing it has to do with South Carolina being a known commodity--Dawn Staley is a national championship coach and she has won, & will continue to win, titles. Iowa, on the other hand, has a head coach just in her 2nd year. Can she bring Iowa back to the Final Four? Probably. But is "probably" enough?

I'm not sure I'd say 'the family is divided' based on Chad's tweet--to me, that implies some are for one school and others are for another. Chad just shared that the family made a detailed pros/cons list and that there were 'no cons' for any school--I just assume that to be a comment from the family meant to add some levity to the situation.

Is this about Bjorn or McKenna

On the other side she isn't going to have 5 starts lined up at the position she plays at Iowa either while she will have that at SC.

Hopefully she'll take the approach that CC22 and Deal did. A chance to do something never done before. Take a team to a title. At SC she'll just be another cog in what has become an assembly line of 5 star players clubbing most of the teams on their schedule on the way to yet another final 4. I mean what would it really mean for her to go to SC and them to win two more titles. They could very well win one if she goes there or not. Be bold.....

Must not have been that detailed if they didn’t list Coach McGuff’s drunk driving escapades and Staley flirting with the NBA as cons.

Seems like a statement to say we aren’t announcing this week.

Fact: MW is a difference maker. South Carolina knows that. Iowa knows that. She knows that and her agent knows that. This is not going to be easy!
In my opinion the word "Agent" is what is probably the biggest stumbling block. I raised this issue when she signed with an agent with ties to USC and they represent several Ohio State players. I'm sure they don't see Iowa as a big market but in reality Iowa womens basketball is big in the midwest. Far more recognition than USC and OSU because their are distractions in those places. I lived in South Carolina for five years, another small market, football in the Southeast is king but they do have a good following for women's basketball.

My confidence level of a commitment has waivered a bit but I'm hopefull McKenna will decide on Iowa. Only time will tell.

Full text of tweet:

UPDATE (sorta) from the camp of McKenna Woliczko, the #6 overall national recruit in 2026 class from San Bruno, Calif., who has completed her final official visit (Iowa, Aug. 30, photo attached) and is mulling the Hawkeyes, South Carolina, USC and Ohio State.

No decision expected this week but is "forthcoming," I'm told.

Family has made detailed pros/cons list and has come to conclusion that "THERE ARE NO CONS" to the finalists.

McKenna wants to be at 1 school for all 4 years, hence her agonizing over this impactful decision.

Doesn't want to "break up" with any of the finalists after getting to know the coaches/players so well.

My half empty glass is not being replenished in my feeling about McKenna. I would be the happiest guy in the good old USA if I’m wrong but I think the longer it drags out the less chance the Hawkeyes have. Obviously she would be the biggest difference maker we could have in ‘26. Still hoping like all of us 🤞

Hopefully with Addie being a fellow Californian she can sway her.

I'm kinda with you unfortunately. Although to me it's a no brainer where I'd go if I were her. She may regret her decision if it isn't the hawks

Is there a reason why the other schools wouldn’t feel this way also?

Initially offered by the University of Iowa back in July of 2023, former head coach Lisa Bluder was the one to extend that scholarship offer. Bjorn took several unofficial visits with Bluder as head coach and has now been able to experience what it’s like to be recruited by a Jan Jensen led coaching staff. As you would expect, not a whole lot is different.

“Honestly I don’t feel like a ton has changed with the program. Coach Lisa Bluder established a very strong culture, and it seems the same with Coach Jan Jansen. It still feels like it’s a really connected group kinda like a family.”

Also, on an unofficial visit that weekend was her All Iowa Attack teammate Jenica Lewis (Johnston, IA). Lewis, a four-star recruit, has been on several recruiting visits with her AAU teammate. The two have known each even before they became teammates and have discussed the possibility of playing together in college.

Well yes there is. Staley signs Multiple players in the top 15 pretty much every year. Hell they're in the final 4 every year. USC signed the number ONE class last year, AND Juju (sitting out this season) will be probably be back full steam (and wanting to reclaim her spot as the nations top player). It would seem pretty obvious that she'd have a bigger impact out of the gate at Iowa. There really is no argument to be made otherwise. Not to mention McGruff may be on thin ice at OSU, and Staley's been flirting with the NBA. Its possible neither are even there in the next 4 years. I'm actually a bit concerned that this doesn't seem apparent to her and her family.
