Who was the shooter?

Everyone is jumping to say this was a radical liberal, but I don’t know many (any) liberals who would have the skills to drop a kill shot like that. Likely two hundred yards away, and sophisticated enough to not only scout out a site for the best angles, but also coordinate an escape plan.

this was an expert, as noted by the single shot. An unskilled marksman would have fired multiple shots.

Kirk was starting to feel heat from MAGA after his 180 on dropping the Epstein files. Trump called him and asked him to drop it, so he did, and then his followers were irate so he stayed on those files.

Someone in that list could have wanted him dead for keeping the pressure on bondi to release the files. Look at the pressure Laura Loomer was putting on him and painting him as a traitor.

he also was starting to turn on Israel. Mossad could have put a hit on him.

I just can’t see this shooter being some ***** hat wearing, rainbow flag waving drag queen. This was a trained killer.

good chance that this is an inside operation from maga, this guy was getting too popular and too powerful. just like malcolm x. the person arrested was a distraction, just like the guy who yelled, get your hands out my pocket, n******r, at the malcolm x shooting.

Weapon found.

  • Officials said they have recovered a weapon - a high-powered bolt-action rifle- believed to be "the weapon that was used in yesterday's shooting"
  • The suspect "appears to be of college-age", Utah DPS commissioner said, and blended well into the campus environment
  • The investigation has had "a few breakthroughs", including being able to track the shooter's movements as he fled into the neighbourhood,

I wouldn’t want to begin guessing … and it’s also hard to tell what is true and what is not … but … apparently Kirk wore a carbon fiber vest under his shirt at these kind of functions. It’s rumored that they found a 30-06 rifle in the woods nearby. Single shot from 200 yards away, striking in the neck, above the vest and below the head? Soooooo CIA Sharpshooter…. ???

Nah. Aiming for the head or the upper chest and missed his point of aim if i had to guess. .

You are going to need a hard plate of some sort normally in conjunction with soft armor (or a spall liner) to stop a rifle round. Soft armor alone won't do it, that'll stop handgun and maybe even shotgun, but not a centerfire rifle caliber.

Yeah, unfortunately the guessing game starts as soon as we have yet another public shooting. But that is much more healthy for society than the immediate conclusion that this was some liberal crazy. Maybe it was, but there are plenty of others who had motives as well. At least the guessing comes with a somewhat open mind.

Yeah I've blown it up and not sure if I'm imagining it but I swear it looks like the arched windows at the Capitol with flags flying in front.

Weird no one is reporting that.
Seems rather significant to any motive

200 yards isn't that far for a decent marksman.

Yeah, my guess is the same agency that killed Malcolm X and MLK Jr are probably responsible.

You’ve watched far too many movies in your life. Hitting a grapefruit from 200 yards isn’t that difficult. You’re acting like this guy has to be mf’ing Rambo.

True and I am not ;). It’s been 25 years since last I went deer hunting with my cousin. I missed from about 100 yards away and to this day he makes fun of me for it.

after my og response. I actually watched a quick video by a claimed Sniper that reviewed the distance and elevation the shooter was at … math was involved … it was this guys opinion that it was a novice gunman who was aiming for the head and didn’t account for the distance and drop.

I was about to make the same comment on a 200 yard shot. A bullet shot from my deer rifle drops approximately 3 inches relative to it being zeroed in at 100 yards. Many, including myself, zero their rifle in 1 inch high at 100 yards. That means the bullet is only 2 inches off the crosshairs on a 200 yard shot. This is a very achievable shot for any semi-experienced hunter. Or even someone who googles it and shoots some rounds at a gun range.

This doesn't require sniper-like skills or ballistic turrets or anything like that.

The shot was on a downward angle so that makes the apparent range even LESS than 200yds. Probably not a real steep angle but still less than a 200yd shot from a bullet drop perspective.

Another indicator that this wasn’t some highly skilled pro. He was either aiming center mass and missed high either not accounting for angle/elevation and/or muzzle jump shooting from a standing/unsupported position or aiming for head and missed low because he overestimated angle - common mistake for even decent, competent shooters. Not a mistake a professionally competent shooter makes.

That means absolutely nothing. The shooter could’ve wanted to blend into the crowd by wearing clothes that are more associated with a conservative. Who the hell knows the reason for the shirt
Did you see me imply it meant anything? I was just trying to figure out what it was. Now I know for sure.

Yea. Nobody aims for the neck. He either didn't adjust for drop/distance or just pulled it.

You sure about that?

I’m guessing it was stashed up there at some point beforehand when traffic was low. Depending on model the gun is somewhere around 3.5 feet give or take an inch or two. Would be fairly easy to carry in an innocuous looking bag like a guitar bag/case or internal frame hiking pack - neither of which would look all that out of place on a college campus near salt lake city. I think people underestimate how easy it is to ferry weapons in and out of MOST soft venues, especially in cases like this where no one is really expecting it/alert to it.

Yeah. I was a music major in college and many instrumentalists carried cases that would have easily concealed a rifle. I honestly wouldn't have looked twice at a trombone case for example.

are you going to feel at all embarrassed when the facts come out and this shooting has nothing to do with any of your hypothesis? Isn't it better to wait for just one simple fact about motives before throwing things like this out there?

And, I don't think one's political philosophy - radical liberal - has any specific correlation to the ability to aim and fire a weapon. And, what makes you so sure that the shot was aimed at Kirk's throat and not his torso and the shooter just flinched at the second of firing and missed the aim point, or maybe the wind shifted....

this may be one of the most intelligent posts on this entire thread. The patron saint of conservatives was murdered by a conservative . Who, given Rastafrian's post, could only have been a conservative because radical liberals don't have the skill to make such a kill shot.

Oh and the pro trans writings found with the weapon were only there as a distraction to mislead the FBI into thinking that a liberal, pro trans person might have been involved. When is's obvious that a it really was maga inside operation.

Yep, most intelligent post!!

Yeah, you really missed the mark here. My point was that there are a number of scenarios that can be considered when everyone immediately wanted to say that it was the radical left. The same ones labeled snowflakes because they aren’t tough. The same ones that are labeled too soft.

it very well may be someone who vehemently disagreed with his commentary. It may not. We don’t know, so let’s wait for the facts to come in.

You also failed to notice that the rumored writings on the bullets has not only not been confirmed by the ATF, but they also said there is no conclusive evidence of that yet.

Again, it may end up that way, but we don’t know.

so instead of jumping to conclusions with almost zero information, consider that there ar w a multitude of scenarios here that could be proven true.

Im not saying theres anything to it, but I find it very weird that DJT went to a public restaurant this week and was confronted with protestors, like they got within a few feet of him inside the room. LIke how does that even happen, especially given the history there? Then this happens.
I'm not saying theres anything to this i just find it very weird.
