Someone try to get me to believe that Iowas passing offense wouldn't be better if the QB & WR's just made up their play before the snap like backyard football. Seriously F'ing maddening yet again

I couldn't get you to believe that, because all the evidence suggests making up backyard plays in the huddle would be far more effective than what we've seen the last five or six years. That's years, my friends. This problem will never be resolved until KF heads into retirement--voluntarily or otherwise. Middle school teams have more effective passing games than the Iowa Hawkeyes have had for over half a decade. That's not hyperbole: That's simple, observable fact. You don't have to like facts, but any mature adult should accept them.

As long as our head coach sees offense as a necessary evil, we aren’t going to be able to recruit offensive players.
Simple as that.

When you have a problem it is many times good to simplify things and reduce the variables.

So, what are some of the simplest pass routes and passes to throw.

The easiest pass to throw is to a stationary receiver so call plays for tight ends to go downfield and find an opening, stop and turn to the qb. same with the wide receivers.

Second easiest pass is a comeback pattern because the receiver drives off the defender and comes back to the qb. So the receiver looks stationary to the qb and it should be an easy throw. Many times first down is a good time to do high percentage passes.

Now Grono has thrown to a lot of receivers running slant and crossing patterns and he has usually been on target so if the defense is vulnerable to those patterns then run them.

Grono was on target on that last pass against ISU but the sideline was the problem as was the defender
