You are joking right? Lets look at the facts, he is under contract through the 2029 season, and if he is fired without cause the buyout is $6 million per years left on the contract. So after this season, that is $24 million, your athletic department does not have that type of money sitting in reserve some place. The donor base still loves the guy, so they are not stepping up to pitch in to buy him out.

Not at all TJ has more than proven himself and upgraded the program. It will be interesting to see how all those former players from Drake and NWMS handle the size and strength of now playing in the B10.
The offense looked way more attacking the one game Wallace coached last season. Way younger and you could tell he has a different mindset. I too think we look outside the program. Wallace seems a good candidate for defensive coordinator on a new staff.

If there is an extension, which I doubt but for recruiting reasons, it will contain no buyout of significance, allowing the university to be unshackled by the financial constraints of the previous agreement.This season is what it is.

What have you seen with your coach that leaves that he would be willing to take a cut and retire? The fact he put his son in a position that he was highly unqualified for, that he put his son in law also on the staff, that after saying he would take a reduced salary during covid he was the only coach that took full salary. The fact that while your athletic department is bringing in a lot of money, you are spending it as fast as it comes in and have few reserves, it was the reason you had to get a loan from the university.
