They seemed more physical and quicker for most of the game.
Imagine that. Plus they continue to outrecruit Iowa at skill positions.

I'm at the point where I'd replace every Iowa coach sans PP with their counterparts at ISU.

I felt like we were going to lose but I still think they are a better program right now period. The only unit Iowa is better at is the OL. This was the first time in a long time that I thought ISU was just simply a better team.

Also I know we have never been an offensive juggernaut under KF but I feel like we are feeling generational ramifications because of Brian.

yes, but not by much. we just can’t seem to figure out the qb position. Give us Rocco and we probably win.

Yep. KF is part of the reason I started watching Iowa in the first place, so I had hope that change wouldn't have to start at the top to make the offensive situation go back to normal, but now I'm afraid the ship won't be righted until he's gone.

Yes which means it's time for a change in leadership and it cannot be anyone on the current staff. Could Iowa go to the basement like Illinois was for a long time? I guess that's possible, but you can't tell me this wouldn't be a sought after job by high level coaches

Yes, for sure. They have a really good shot at the playoffs this year and next.

Only thing of optimism right now is Beth’s hire will be on the money. Somebody who is young, has energy, and can win.

She nailed it with McCollum & she will with football when the time comes.

and better coached. Becht plays with confidence and control. Lots of that comes from coaching.
Way too much evidence that it’s Kirk. I love the dude, but he coaches all the QBs to be so risk adverse they second-guess every throw they’re about to make.

We don’t have to win anything substantial to pass Iowa. That’s a faux milestone. You guys haven’t beaten a team that finished in the top 25 in like 6 years.
Here comes your piss & vinegar. You got exposed for the real reason to come
here.

Iowa has a monument of success compared to ISU the past 10 years. Including a point of 7 in a row in that stretch. Let’s not forget how it still shakes out.

If you look even more recent not withstanding a Covid year which only Indiana and ISU cared
about.

ISU is 31-23 in 4 years plus this year.

Iowa is 37-18

so just save for another 5 years and see what happens.

Let's hope so. Football is a little tougher. McCollum was the perfect storm...timing, a guy that really loved Iowa, etc. It's going to be a little tougher to find that in football.

Oh for sure, but does she have it in her to let him go or are we going to see him tank this program? It's time for him to leave and we all know it but it's such a different situation than the Fran one

They’ve won 20-19 and 16-13 during two of their supposed best seasons. When Iowas offense is atrocious. If this is the definition of “surpassing” then ISU will fall hard and way behind again when KF retires.
It's not just about their results in the Iowa game (1.000 winning percentage the last 2 years btw). Yes they play in a weaker conference but they look much more likely to shake things up in recent seasons. Meanwhile Iowa has gone from playing hard to just grimly marching forward. I think if nothing else ISU continues to rise while Iowa is declining. They might be about even this year, program-wise, but what happens if next year is a repeat of this one?

That were legit top 25 teams, correct (i.e., ISU and Indiana in 2021).

Iowa is not a benchmark any non-blue blood program strives for anymore and hasn’t been for 15 years.

And you haven’t won a conference title since the year the Titanic sank. You’re still ISU. Enjoy your golden era, which you said was “mediocre” when Iowa did it for 20+ years lol.

When’s your last conference championship? I’m not accepting any sheeit talk from a Clown fan. Nice win today for you guys, but don’t smack talk anybody when your program hasn’t won a title since the Valley when your great grandparents were in diapers.

I’m not sure how watching these last two games in the series that anyone could draw a conclusion. I mean they look like the same team with similar limitations. ISU has a great kicker so last year ended the way it did.

These things are cyclical. Once you understand and accept that, life is much easier and better. Iowa goes through stretches of success, then Iowa State does. I still think Iowa has the better overall program historically, but Iowa State isn’t the whipping boy it once was.

I say not really, ISU favored by 3, at home, last year Iowa St had a magical season beating Iowa at the end and coming back late in 3 other games if not more. They could have been 8-4 last year very easily. I think Campbell is good at letting his players play. Iowa St was gifted their bowl win when the Canes QB sat out and they got trounced by ASU.

The hawks were 8-4 reg season last year and could have easily been 10-2.

#3 Iowa plays a much tougher schedule. IOwa St played UCF, Cinn, Houston, that is not OHio ST, Penn ST etc

I don’t believe so. ISU hasn’t won anything substantial & I don’t expect it to change.

Have they become Iowa in the way they win? Absolutely.
Neither have we.

ISU is definitely trending upward and, best case scenario, we are staying the same.

ISU winning 3 of the last 4 is very significant.
