The hate on Rhule lately is crazy, especially after a win. We haven’t beat a P4 opener in 22 years and people pissed because it should have been way better looking.
I thought our delusional fanbase had been humbled over the last decade but apparently not. A poster saying we are lowering expectations because Rhule wouldn’t be fired if we miss the playoffs. Another poster acting like we should have a stable of 5 star running backs every year because we are “Nebraska” is unbelievable delusion.
FYI - outside of our fanbase our program has been an absolute joke and literally has been for the basically the entire life of current recruits.
People dog Rhule for some of his social media, podcasts, etc. It’s part of his plan to build the brand and bring positive attention to the program to a bunch of young people who don’t give two craps about Nebraska because we are never talked about as we are always outside the top 25. With the elite 7-on-7 tournament hosting this summer he opened the eyes and caught the attention of some of the nations best. He’s trying to make it cool to go to Nebraska again. You can say “winning does that” - obviously but it’s tough to win without the recruits and additions.
You can dog him for his first round of hires - particularly Foley and Satt. Satt wasn’t even supposed to be the OC last year. More importantly he’s not sitting on these guys for 5 years - he made changes and we move on. We’ve seen coaches keep the same staff until the band got swallowed by the titanic.
We aren’t Nebraska of old and it took us 20 years to be a laughing stock in the big 10 it will take time to build something that lasts. Improvement happened last year and it’s obvious improvement in many facets of the game allowed for a victory this week.
Taking a program from NW levels of obscurity to compete with the best takes time and we made some strides last year and will continue to take strides this year and beyond.
The over-reactions from week 1 are crazy - “we have no number 2 back”, “our OL sucks”, “our d line sucks”, “Dylan can’t throw long”. So many people before the season said EJ couldn’t get it done.
The team knows what we got and the coaches will develop new schemes to help minimize our weak points and maximize our strengths.
All that to say - we have Coach who is improving our team and making us respectable. He’s building our brand for the future - for goodness sake, let the man cook. GBR!
