If you had to point at one player that set the tone for KFz's program, it was Bob. Undersized, tough as hell, gave it everything he had and became an NFL star.I agree with Kirk. Bob is the greatest Iowa player in the past 50 years. He was a game changer.
He's a tank, but coming out of high school got no looks because of his size. Incredible player. Game changer for the program.Have you ever seen Bob's arms? Given F=M x A, his lower half must have matched. Instincts.....unmatched. He was a member of the top 1% of the elite club.
That would be great but I think the post just above yours that identifies the weak LT and CB positions on this years team is more to the point. This year I would pick Jack Campbell.
I think Kirk would pick Bob 100/100 times, regardless of year and personnel.based on the question perhaps kirk’s sending a message to this year’s safeties
No. If Kirk wants to send a message to his safeties he'll talk to them directly.based on the question perhaps kirk’s sending a message to this year’s safeties
thanks LuteBob was a 2nd round pick (#44 overall) in the 2004 NFL Draft.
In 7 seasons with the Colts & 1 with the Chargers, he earned $23,444,000.
He is now 44 years old.
Love Scherff but if making the tough choice at LT, I'm going with Gallery. For this year, it's Scherff and it's not even close. Put him at LT with the rest of this line and we're gonna avg 250/game on the ground and score 35+/game.
No receiver or TE wanted to catch the ball over the middle when Sanders was in. As you said, they were terrified.Dude terrified opposing WRs and TEs. Nobody hit like him.
Wirfs. And yes he'd have been fine on the left side. Two best "athletes" we've ever had a tackle 1) Wirfs 2) ScherffLove Scherff but if making the tough choice at LT, I'm going with Gallery.
Not sure we could go wrong with either Scherff, Gallery, or Wirfs, honestly. I just picked Scherff because that guy was the meanest, toughest SOB.Love Scherff but if making the tough choice at LT, I'm going with Gallery.
I think there's a discussion to be entertained here. Brad had such a complete offense around him it's tough to say if we have that yet offensively and how much he'd elevate us if we don't. I'm still very concerned with our defensive line. I would love a 4 down lineman like Roth or Clayborn. I'd also consider a corner lime Dejean, King or Jackson. Especially for next weekendI love Bob Sanders , Adore the Player but this Years Team if I coiuld change out just 1 Brad Banks would be QB1 and to me it is not even a discussion
However, Cam Buffington is playing like a “mini” Campbell so far. On defense, I would take a former great d-lineman like Andre Tippet, Adrian Clayborne, or Jarod DeVries. This year I would pick Jack Campbell.
What’s “weak” about Iowa’s secondary this year? With Iowa’s weak secondary, gotta go with DeJean. He can go single coverage allowing for double coverage on other receivers. Sanders would be my #2.
The other option would be to shore up the offense. My pick would be Gallery at LT. That would give Iowa a solid offensive line, and enable them to control the ball more. #2…..was tempted to go Brad Banks, but assuming Gronowski is the real deal, I would take Marvin McNutt. Especially with Vander Zee out.
Dude was jacked. I saw him once at Walmart when he was just a sophmore. His arms were bigger than my thighs.Have you ever seen Bob's arms? Given F=M x A, his lower half must have matched. Instincts.....unmatched. He was a member of the top 1% of the elite club.
