I don't mind traveling; but, to have to play at a sight that is no way neutral is a bit unfair.
I bet if the shoe were on the other foot you would be complaining as well. Also what the hell does
one team losing to state teams and one not have anything to do with hosting?
Oh Ok, I misunderstood your argument. It's not the actual traveling, it's the venue.
I mean, technically it is a neutral site. Even though Eastside is only 10 minutes from the college, that's not the arena they play all their home games on. The Cumberland District tournament for as long as I can remember has always been held there. As long as there is a 4 region setup, Region D (at least in class 1) will be held there because I don't think there is any other gym in Class 1, Region D that holds over 1000 except Castlewood and Twin Springs which are also Cumberland District schools and possibly Honaker out of the Black Diamond District. So, even though Eastside has played multiple games there this year, it's not their home court.
And my point on overall record deciding on who gets to choose the site of the game is just that. That's what should have been the determining factor with two equal seeds, not the equal seed who just happened to be "on top of the bracket." So, in that regard Eastside boys should have definitely been the "host" tonight, Eastside girls.... probably not, although the argument can be made too that they should be hosting. Parry McCluer has 2 losses, Eastside has 3, though one of those came to a NC school. Anyway, this is the way the VHSL set it up this year, so blame them.
