This should be a great matchup very early in the season.
I'm looking 4ward to high school basketball. I plan to show a lil Martinsville hospitality and buy 2 tickets for our visitors from Graham. I certainly believe in random acts of kindness. My personal welcome to the Dawghouse Dec. 5th or 8th, whichever day that it may be.

MartinsVille lost some players (seniors) from the two championship teams. They do return some key players from last year. They have enough coming back to be a legit threat for the Class 2A title.

Grahams main guys are basically back. They should be very very good. Did Martinsville loss much?

Graham only lost 1 player off last years team, Nick Morgan. He was hurt (football injury) and didn't play the majority of the season and when he did he came off the bench and wasn't a big factor. Oddly enough, he is now on the roster at D-1 Gardner-Webb. Morgan's dad is Richard Morgan was an ACC star for Virginia in his day and is now the head coach at Bluefied College, so maybe he had some connections there.

Graham was young last year and bring back Darren Martin who averaged probably around 20+ last year. They have a good scorer down low (Dalton) but he isn't very big. They won't have the size to match up with a lot of teams but I think they'll be quicker than most. They do have a 6'7" guy on the football team & I've been wondering if he'll come out or not. He'd be a welcomed surprise to boost their size.

Graham is playing a tough schedule this year so it wouldn't surprise me if they dropped 6-8 games in the regular season but come playoff time they will be fundamentally sound enough to make a deep run but I can't see them making it past Gate City or Martinsville

This is Martinsville pretty much every year. The Dogs played R.E. Lee and Radford (twice) last year - and went 3-0 in those games. Add that to home and aways with GW, Halifax and Franklin County and there's no 2A in Virginia that plays the schedule that MHS does year in and year out.

Found out last night Mayberry that we will be playing Amherst Co and LCA in the Danville showcase over Christmas on the 26th and 27th then will go to Eden NC on the 28th and 29th to play Morehead and McMichael, that after going to GW on the 21st. I guess what don't kill you makes you stronger. Add that to GW at home, 2 with Halifax, Franklin Co, and Graham the Dogs will be battle tested come playoff time. I wish we were still playing Radford, I really enjoyed those games.

RE Lee should be good again. Shades, McClung is tough, put up 60+ against Dan River in the state playoffs and is going to Georgetown next year so he is a handful. They also have some very good players to go with him so they will be a tough out for anyone. Dogs will be a work in progress, I want to see a few games before I pass judgement.

Mac is athletic enough to play on any team in the nation when it comes to pure athleticism. I think it was the lack of proof of how well he can play defense that scared some teams away....almost 100% sure that's why UVA didn't offer him. The Cavs could have used his offense but he doesnt play the defense that they like. They would rather win games 30-28. There wasnt a big enough sample of him playing legit defense and GC doesn't have enough depth to turn him completely loose on both sides of the ball. If he's in foul trouble GC is in trouble....pretty cut and dry. Also none of Macs highlights from the summer league is of him making defensive plays....could be wrong but I think that's what hurt him with alot of teams and especially local teams like UVA, WV, and VT. But to me the Hoyas is a much better program than VT in basketball so it doesn't really matter about the Hokies anyhow.

Evidently Ewing liked what he saw in Mac....he put the full court press on him and brought all of Georgetown to Macs house.

Back to the topic at hand, when is this game between Graham and MHS? Would like to catch some early action if GC isnt playing. If already posted somewhere in this thread my apologies....i must have looked over it.
