Interesting reading, specifically Coach Tuck's comments on the year-round practice demands. Should be an attractive job.

Haven't read the article, but will put my .02 in. The VHSL created a new problem by alleviating their need to police out of season conditioning. VHSL got tired of get reports about teams doing this and that so they just got rid of it and allow year round activities save the 4 dead periods.

School systems didnt give coaches a bump in pay (of course not). It would be unfair to say BB and FB and Baseball coaches get a bump put other sports don't because they do put in the out of season time. RIDICULOUS. Low paying job to start and now they get more out of coaches and still pay them squat. You gotta practice year round cause if you don't and another team does then the boosters raise hell.

Many counties around here haven't touched their pay scale for coaches in 20 years.

I read an article where the varsity football coach at Richmond Sr. High School in Rockingham, NC makes 72k a year! Most jobs here in VA pays the coach an extra 2-4k.. I'm not saying that they should make 72k but football and basketball coaches should at least get 5-6k plus their teacher's salary for all of the time and work they put into it.
