X came off a ton last year in these situations.
No. But I hope he gets significant playing time this year.
No offense to him but that would only come about due to 3 things, and 2 of them are not good.
IMO, Iowa does this in order to NOT discourage some older players.
It's the loyalty aspect of Kirk coming into play - Loyalty Trumps talent in some cases, as proven during a number of seasons in his tenure. This approach has pros and cons.
On the other hand, MAYBE...just maybe...Epenesa isn't ready to contribute a whole lot this early on.
Was just going to say this. The depth chart for the offensive side of the ball is basically worthless
I think it might be a case where there just isn't that much separation between the WR's. Gill was easily the most productive receiver last year and IMO Anderson when healthy has been the most talented receiver on the team since he arrived. I expect big things from him this year. They are both logical starters. We haven't see Parker yet, but the guy has a ton of experience and was very productive, albeit at a lower level at his previous school. RVZ has 14 career receptions and 5 of those were vs Illinois State.

This right here has me the most stoked ...with a very good and deep OL (especially one that gels early) this team is going to make noise.
We have a portal stud 3-deep, which may mean he hasn't yet acclimated to the speed at FBS level, but it's still a good sign there is organic talent listed ahead of him.

Parker is a Frosh, I think you are mixing him up with Phillips.
I hadn’t paid much mind to Phillips until seeing him beat out Vander Zee on the chart, but after looking into him he looks like he could be someone with some juice. A 5’7” receiver at Iowa is certainly interesting. The only starting receiver below 5’10” in the KF era I can recall is McCarron, and he was still 5’9”.
Yeah. I meant Phillips. He had good numbers over the past few years at UT Chattanooga.
This. You think people would know after 26 years. The "depth chart" is a work in progress the first several games.
I'm not at all. Considering DE is one of the deepest positions on the team. Both lose and Eppy are aware he faces an uphill battle for playing time this season. There have been a couple of articles about how much deeper we are at that position the when AJ got here. Still I wouldn't be surprised if he gets in a few games early on. If he plays alot its because he really wowed, or we've had multiple injuries.
Hell it's a reflection of who finished the prior game throughout the season. Doesn't necessarily mean anything come kick off.

If a "receiver" can't catch, he's not a receiver, regardless of anything else. Period.
Who does? I hope we can have a wr with over 50 catches and 600 yards on the season. When’s the last time that’s happened.
I don't know, but, it's mind-boggling to think of our crazy stretch dealing with a well-below-average passing game. THIS is the year.
Maybe I’m seeing games differently but I’d have him 3rd on the depth chart at best and that’s because I haven’t seen Williams. So number 4 on the depth chart seems right.

Based on ypc, Moulton is the best back. I just recall too many of his runs going for no yards but I certainly could be remembering incorrectly. Jaz runs hard which I think pays off more in tough games where you need that back that can get positive yards. Also, everytime I see a pic of Moulton, he looks like he should be in middle school. He looks like a little kid both in his stature and his face. I'm not really pulling for one more than another. I just want a productive back and I hope one of them emerges as a clear #RB.
The actual depth chart. It seems usually the depth chart after the first bye is more accurate. For instance don't be shocked if RVZ outsnaps Phillips by double digits.
Coaching, special teams, and o-line.
Will be the best QB play since Stanley.
DE room is good to very good.
RB room is good.
TE's are good.
And I actually think the LB's could be really good
