Enrollment Numbers

I know there has been some discussion about enrollment numbers on this website. I can tell you that public schools had until the end of October to update or change data (including student enrollment).

From what I have gathered from some very reputable sources, it sounds like all public school numbers have been collected and received by the NSAA from NDE. However, there are a handful of non-public schools who have not submitted their numbers.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but the vibe I got from my sources are that the non-publics hoped to have the public school numbers released before turning their numbers in. One of these schools could be on the cutline of C1-C2, so there could be something to this.

The NSAA isn't going to release anything publicly until all schools have the proper paperwork sent in.

Why would a school withhold their numbers at this point? Do you think if that school, will kick kids out to drop to C2? What are you insinuating?

The numbers are as of October 1, 2021. Why wouldn't all schools have their numbers in by now? Your number is what it is.

However, public schools are held to a different standard than their non-public counterpart. Their numbers had to be in October 1, and if amended or changed, by October 31. There is no change after this.

Non-publics don't fit this same window. It sounds like some of them are slow-playing sending in their numbers. There could be a lot of reasons, but what's the hold up?

We will know classifications and districts and enrollment numbers by Dec 15th any longer is a mess, because hard to know who to submit for non district play if you do not even know your classification, so what ever the reason its so late I hope the NSAA lets us know who and why it was so late

NSAA is waiting on 3 schools to send their numbers to NDE. All 3 are parochial. With that said parochial schools don't get state aid so turning in a number on a set date probably is not that big of deal for them.

Last years classifications, districts came out on December 16th. If these three schools turn in their numbers this week, it won't matter. I bet we will see districts and classifications mid to late next week.

who are the 3 schools? why can't you just say who they are if this is the case?
There are only two parochial schools sit on the "C1-C2 line", using last years classification numbers.

Kearney Catholic and Lincoln Christian.

I think Kearney Catholic will be C2 no matter what. LC will be close.

The three parochial schools that look to be around that cut line would be Lincoln Christian, Kearney Catholic, and Lincoln Lutheran. Scotus seems to be too high and Norfolk Catholic seem to be too low.

How does one know if there are three schools and which three schools?

Also, how is there not a better process for just taking the numbers. Not sure how you can just tell the NSAA “uh, give us a few more weeks.” If October 1 is the day, you take the numbers from that day. It shouldn’t be that hard. If you’re going to be that stringent about a May 1 transfer deadline, you should be able to pull that information and stick to it. I get the NSAA gets numbers form the NDE, so I’m guessing they messed this up?

Since when are conspiracy theories and phantom sources not more reliable than the NSAA administration and actual facts?
I dont care why a school did not turn in stuff on time Just want to know who, and If I was Nsaa I would start making deadlines. actual deadlines and put in something to hold people accountable

Why do so many think something sinister/ incompetent is occurring? To me it looks like they'll be ahead of where they are most years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't new classifications generally issued (at least recently) in mid- December?

I dont think anything is going on bad, just want a deadline to be a deadline and accountability if not met

I could see where a school like Parkview Christian would wait to turn in numbers until they see everyone else's, that way they know how many basketball recruits they can sign each year and still compete in Nebraska's smallest class.

No, I kind of got that with your post. But, are we sure it isn't? If somebody is blowing off deadlines, it looks to me, anyway, like they do it every year.
I agree that could be, but the fault in this and what is also a huge problem in our world, is people have figured out they can do whatever they want and they will not be held accountable. The honor system doesnt work very well any more. This is why the NSAA should put in a fine or something for accountability

Kearney Catholic will be C-2.
Cutoff will be 83 or 82 for C-1/2

Lol, KC shud of prob tried to fudge their numbers a couple years ago instead of being one of the smallest c-1 schools and still going 20-3, 4-2 in the playoffs, over the last two years. They are fringe playoff team at best for the foreseeable future, in c-2 or c-1. The whole premise seems kind of silly.

I don't disagree with the accountability. I just don't think there IS a "problem". If so, it's less than ever before...

I agree I do not think anything fishy is going on but I would like to see a deadline actually be a deadline
Nope I agree, but I don't think the NSAA has EVER put a hard date on releasing classifications. I'm just not convinced, unless there is some sort of proof, that ANYBODY missed a deadline. Am I missing something? Last time they were released, iirc, the third week of December. If what we're hearing is right, this cycle will be a week EARLIER. So, to me, it seems much ado about nothing.

They haven't because they usually come out around the same time frame every year. Sometime between the December 5th and the 20th. Which isn't a big deal.
