Higher Seeds Playing Away Games

Just wondering how people feel about the NSAA system of giving lower seeded teams a home game and forcing higher seeds to play away? I personally feel the higher seed earned the home advantage but isn’t getting it.

I'm ok with it. The point system is so flawed that anything using it, is totally suspect in the first place.

I think it’s crazy. High seed deserves to host until the finals. I hope a proposal is issued soon to have high seed host throughout like Classes A and B.

I think it’s going to change in a few years. This year seeing all four high seeds on the road in C1 is unnecessary.

Two things: 1. Fix the point system so it's consistent with every other sport, 2. Rules for football should have nothing to do with class, if you want something for Class A or B, it should also apply to all other classes. Class A and B are the VAST minority of schools playing football in Nebraska, and should not have their own rules. It's a shame that the larger schools seem to have an idea that they know better, everyone has a part in this.

I guess I counter Classes A and B play a greater percentage of the rest of their class in football than the remaining classes play, and to that end, the points averages are a better barometer. Additionally, there aren't as many long-distance travel opportunities in Classes A and B as in the remaining classes, so it's not as potentially taxing. (Yes, teams need to travel to a couple western teams in A and B or vice versa, but not nearly to the potential amount as in C1-D2.)

A: 9 games against 30 other teams
B: 9 games against 24 other teams
C1: 9 games against 42 other teams
C2: 9 games against 31 other teams
D1: 8 games against 56 other teams
D2: 8 games against 41 other teams

So C2 throws my first argument off a little, but my overall point still stands, particularly in D1 and D2: fewer games, more teams.

And as someone else has pointed out, the NSAA dictates the schedules (and therefore the wild card point potential of teams) with a little bit of input from member schools on non-district games, so it can either help or handicap a team's seeding position.

I will agree the current point system and home seeding for D1 and D2 I do not believe would work or works

C2 doesn't really throw off your post. Remember, there are many "cross class" games played between C1 and C2 schools. Scotus vs Aquinas, Bergan vs Concordia, half of Chase Counties' schedule, Hartington CC vs Battle Creek, Norfolk Cath vs Wayne & Boone Central, etc.

When you factor those games your point gets stronger. This is a good post. Thank you.

I agree I think class A-B C1 and C2 have pretty good system and teams are seeded pretty darn good, but D1 and D2 is not the case at all

My take away from your post wasn't really the locations as much as it was the idea. There are several location options for many of these match ups. I guess I didn't feel like the site was your point.
