Football Tough schedules

I know there's lots of tough schedules out there and I haven't had a chance to look at them all yet, but how can any schedule be tougher than Norfolk Catholic's?

Using Alumni's combined ratings, NC will play the #1, #2, #3 teams in C-2 in back-to-back-to-back weeks (Weeks 2, 3, 4). Oh, yeah, and they open with Class C-1 #1 Pierce.

Then they'll take on C-2 #6 Battle Creek and #9 Hartington CC later in the season!

The Knights lost a big senior class last year, but have been known never to rebuild--just to reload. But to think the Knights may be underdogs in three of their first four (and a pick-em in the other one) is kinda mind blowing.

Looking forward to some football this weekend!

Well, 6 of the top 10 teams in C2 in two districts. And those two districts actually cross over and play each other regular season, sounds like there might be several teams once again in the northeast corner , that have TOUGH schedules. One might even say that a Battle Creek or HCC have a tougher schedule because they have to play Norfolk Catholic. I think we are in for a real treat. The best season of the year, by far, is high school football season. And don't even get me started on the Huskers.

It’s a murderers row in those two districts. If HCC, Battle Creek, etc were in a district in any other corner of the state, they’d probably win it going away.

any district win going away, NO, some district yes but they would not win about 4 other district Not close
You're right he probably overstated that a bit, maybe a lot. But you have to admit that all districts are not created equal. And since winning your district is the only guaranteed way of making the payoffs, it is tougher in a few districts. And when figuring playoff points, a 5-4 team out of one of these districts, has a tougher time getting in than a 6-3 team out of any easy district.

The playoff points system is flawed which contributes to teams from great districts getting penalized. Look up the points system for basketball and then compare it to football. It got changed a few years ago when the football season went to 9 games. Why would getting beat by a top team earn you 36 pts but beating a winless team get you 41? That is too much of a discrepancy, the losing points should be increased by 2. A 5-4 team from a top district is a better team than a 6-3 team from a lesser district. Make the points structure the same as basketball.

Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, all have the same system, does anyone know why football is different? There also is a different system for Class D1,D2, and Six Man.

Maybe it's because there are only 8 or 9 regular season games instead of 30 or more in the other sports.

That has nothing to do with it. Competition is competition, and good wins vs bad wins are
the same regardless of the sport

Norfolk Catholic is 0-3 with a game against BRLD this week. Last time Norfolk Catholic was 0-3 or 0-4?

It had to be sometime before 2003 and I imagine it was a long time before then. The nsaa site has wildcard archives back to 2003. The only time NC even lost back to back games in that stretch was the 5th and 6th games of the 2006 season when they lost to Crofton and Pierce after a 4-0 start. The 2016 team started 1-2 and finished the regular season 6-3.

1982.

Norfolk Catholic started 1-2 in 1995 the year they went 1-7 when Coach Bellar took the Norfolk High job for a year.

In '82 they lost to Howells, Stanton, and Pierce before beating Clarkson to go 1-3. I haven't found an 0-4 start yet.
