I'm curious about Pender's football team. They really didn't have many quality wins this year, but played GACC tough both times. Anyone know much about them? Are they young? Or getting healthy late? Or was CC not as good as advertised? It looked like Pender may have been a little more battle tested when it comes to scheduling. I know the nightmare playoff matches are having to play a team you just beat in a close game at the end of the year.

Pender has some athletes and they're peaking at the right time. GACC's all-state running back went out with a concussion in the 1st quarter as well.

Pender had some key players out for school disciplinary reasons during the season and they are back now.

Wasn’t at the game, but GACC losing a 2 x 1000 rusher doesn’t seem to be the issue. They scored 50 points.

Kids play both ways in 8 man, both injuries were defensive starters.
The radio station ktic posted that Penders player Tyrell had rushing, receiving, throwing, and ST touchdowns. That's impressive right there, and Pender has a great chance of advancing to the Quarterfinals.
Ktic also says the injured RB had 5 carries for 117 and two TDs in first qtr before injury.

GACC’s best receiver/defensive back was injured too. To put this in perspective they lost their starting running back, wide receiver, middle linebacker and defensive back. Regardless, congrats to Pender and good luck in round 2.

I understand that, I played 8 man. I’m just saying on this, & another thread, the statement was that losing the stud RB was the reason they lost. Maybe I’m simplistic & old, but if you score 50, you should not lose.
On a different note, not sure how you can avoid it, but I absolutely hate that some teams get rematches if teams they played in game 8 in 1st round of the playoffs. I have no doubt, even with the injuries, that GACC wouldn’t have rolled most other teams in the 1st round.

I don't think anyone gave it as the only reason, people have credited pender. It it definitly hurts when you lose a guy who averaged 20 yards a carry in the first quarter, was your MLB as gokodo said, and then lose another two way starter in 8 man football.
Heck, the reason pender struggled earlier in the year is probably because they didn't have all their guys as posted above.

Llama57 how was the officiating, were they all in great tip top shape, I sure hope so because that was a very high scoring tilt on the gridiron.

From what I've heard, neither team got many breaks. But that's a part of the game, can't blame a loss on the officials. Period.
