Totally agree. Thanks to both Alum-Ni and 1000yd.guy for all the things you two do for spreading information about Nebraska high school football. Great stuff, enjoy reading your posts, opinions and the props you give to the student athletes themselves for their talents and accomplishments. Glad to hear the young Meis kid from Winside is progressing well, what a scary situation that was that night. Football becomes immaterial at that point! God speed to him on his recovery!! Many prayers for him and his family came from the Randolph fans that night. Felt terrible for them, every parents worst nightmare.

Couple of thoughts, comments, and questions for debate.

Great win by O'Neil on the road. Looks like they will finish the regular season undefeated. Will be interesting how they will fare in the playoffs with the traditional big boys.

Norfolk Catholic falls to 500 with 3 close losses to all very good teams. They still may sneak into the playoffs with three more wins. Even if they miss the playoffs I'm still glad the playoffs are at 16 and not 24 or 32. It's makes every regular season game important.

Looks like Hartington CC is starting to rise to the top of their tough district with another good win. They will be battle tested entering the playoffs and I see them making a deep run if guys stay healthy. Always a well coached team.

Wakefield beating Hartington Newcastle suprised me especially by that score.

It took till week 6 but sadly we have our first two forfeits. I absolutely hate seeing this. Although done in the name of player safety schools and the NSAA need to be more proactive in this. Schools; drop a level or attempt to coop with a neighbor. Be realistic with yourselves and dont wish for best case scenarios. Injuries are going to happen, especially if your boys are under sized and dont live in the weightroom. Playing 6 man is better then playing Xbox on Friday nights. NSAA-use boys enrollment only, get rid of the two year cycle, increase 6 and 8 man cutoff lines (even hire than has been proposed) and allow schools to opt up to 8 or 11 man. Realistically these will probably not be the only two forfeits of the season and we're almost guaranteed to see more next year.

Lastly, anyone have insight why Wayne continues to be towards the bottom of C1 every year? They always have one of the largest C1 enrollments but always struggle. I thought last night would be the first time in a long time that the would knock off a winless Pierce.

Simple answer about Wayne, they don't have the hard nosed kids who want to work year around to get bigger stronger and be all in 100% in my opinion. If you look at the last 10-15 years u will see what I'm talking about. Pierce may not be very good this year but Brahmer will still make them work to get better everyday, that is how they roll. Bluejays will be back next year.

Wayne often has a tough schedule. It is not uncommon for them to have Pierce, Boone Central, and Norfolk Catholic in the same season.

Just my opinion, but you need BOTH physical and mental toughness in football and the three you listed don't transfer over that well into the physical sport of football.

One of the forfeits was due to severe illness that happened to the away team during the early morning on Friday, and only had four players that were unaffected by the illness and the host team would not reschedule
