Do you remember any good players from that year playing? would it have been the 99 season?

I always thought Bancroft-Rosalie belonged in the East Husker from start. But when it was in its prime (2000-2008) most schools were C2 and C1 so they would have been the smallest school by quite a large margin.

I'm happy they are in the league now and doing well.

Nice post Nenebskers....L&C Conference of the mid 90s

Hartington football was good in mid 90s with Curt Toft, Eric Wynia, and Wyatt McGhee. Wynia was a track stud...47' triple jumper.

Walthill had nice b-ball stretch, won conference title in 93 & 94. (Won 94 title and didn't make state but e-hub, Bago, osmond did with osmond getting to title game. Had the Meyer brothers (Aaron and Cory) the Grant Brothers (Mike and Sam).

Bago 94 b-ball team was solid with Stout, Mallory, Frenchman, LaRose and Cleveland. Beat State qualifier E-hub in epic triple OT game that year.

Homer football was poor, had decent late 90s team with Hightree kid. 97 b-ball team qualified for state with Ames, Pearson, Kecki, Mackling, and Krause.

Ponca was always solid. Don Mohr, Tommy Nelson and Dave Nelson were good backs (Tommy won state title in 800m). Roberts was stud in b-ball....also had Bachman kid that I think Raiders signed as free agent for a bit?...

E-hub Brent Beacom that went off for 41 in sub-district game vs. Wakefield in 94...made a nice duo with Sorenson. Came back from 18 down with 5 to go in state tourney to beat Newman Grove. Football was best in mid90s. Had the Hassler boys (Josh,Mike,Brian) and Walsh kid was good receiver. Josh was also a state champion 2 miler.

Wakefield was solid early to mid 90s. Cory Brown (walked on to NU during title years) great RB, b-ball player, and trackster. Justin Mackling followed him up and was a stud in fb and track. Had a state champion 4x100 during that span. Made district finals in b-ball in 95 & 96 only to lose to eventual state champs in close games.

Allen....not good. Mike Blohm was a decent athlete in mid90s.

B-R guys were all named....good stretch late 90s.

Only thing I remember about Beemer was 95 b-ball team made conference finals..."Brock" Eichelberger is the one you were thinking of.

Coleridge had Hahnes boys, remember Hansen, I would also throw Monte Freirichs into the mix.

Winside football was good mid 90s with Scott Wittler at QB, Landon Grothe at RB, and Chad Conner and Jamie Holdorf at WRs.

Just a few of the good athletes of the 90s.

Thanks for the help Buffalo. Your right on Eichelberger from Beemer.

I totally forget about EricWynia.... unbelievable athlete, saw him dunk on back to back possessions. It wasn't your average high school dunks either. I'll never forget the Hartington vs Cedar playoff game in 94. Cedar was lead by some lineman named Russ Hochstein. He was probably only 220 at the time before he went to Lincoln and was exposed to the weight room and training table.

Some of your names reminded me of others. Never saw them in high school but Lance Lundberg of Wausa and Gerald Armstrong of Ponca both started for the Huskers in the early 90's. Also had a lineman from Bago on the team, Cleveland (can't remember first name)

Who is the Bachman from Ponca? Years? College? Don't remember him at all.

Wakefield basketball did have some decent teams....lost to the Dolliver boys from Stanton if I remember right.

Totally forgot about Armstrong....played TE for the Huskers, remember it was something like his first 8 career receptions all went for TDs, they loved to use him in play-action situations on the goal-line.

Some of the excellent athletes I remember from the Lewis and Clark in the mid 2000's.

Justin Blatchford-Ponca 2008
Ran against him in track at Homer and man the kid had some wheels. Also an excellent hitter on the football field and went on to play at Nebraska as a DB.

Joel Nixon-Wakefield 2008
Probably one of the best athletes and just overall guys I've been around. I still will never forget after running the 800 with him in Lyons and he was mad about his time, and I asked him what it was, and he said 2:05 haha. Couldn't believe it. Also a heck of a QB, went to Morningside and won a lot of games.

Heath Irwin-Laurel Concord 2008
Just a heck of a basketball player and track guy. Went to Wayne State, I think he did track for a little bit.

Quite a bit more during that time, but those three standout from their respective schools.
