Oh… don’t confuse me for an LA fan, I’m not sure the actual big time LA fans will like that. While I have strong ties to the school, my ties to public schools are stronger at this point in my life. But I’ve always been a big high school football fan and have found the public-private debate fascinating over the years as it clearly plays an outsized role in IHSA football (fan debates, actual policies like the success factor, etc.).Thank you for being honest.

I get it and have no disrespect for the private schools. I actually understand they need to recruit to stay open. I also believe that as long as they recruit their will never be a level playing field. It is what it is and I have come to except it. The old saying if you want to be the best you have to play the best! That said it’s tough and I am trying.
I think I remember the quote being 40+ but this article from 2012 indicates the school has kids from over 100. I am sure a lot are from New Trier, Evanston, Glenbrook North and South Districts but plenty of others.

Roughly 35% of LA students reside in the city. Of those city kids, my guess is that a substantial majority live north of Foster (8 miles straight south of LA). Add in Evanston, and the six villages that feed into the NT district, and there is your 85%. I'm going to estimate that 90% of Loyola kids live well within a 10 mile radius of the school and most of those are within 6 miles. The notion that Loyola recruits the entire Chicago area is ludicrous.
I know that many police officers and firemen from Chicago’s northern edge who send their children to Loyola. The public schools that services their area in Chicago are the pits if they are not going to a magnet school. They work many of their days off in the subway system or in the Chicago Housing Projects. If there were 30 guys/gals at a roll call 22-24 of them were there for tuition. I was. Most Loyola parents are not Michael Jordan rich. Sending their kids to Loyola is a sacrifice
I’m not surprised that many CPS teachers are also sending their kids to Catholic schools. I think this is something suburban parents don't quiet understand. Explaining legacy students goes over most peoples heads. You never hear of a public school parent paying out of district tuition so their son or daughter can have the same high school experience that they did. And none of the aforementioned students need be athletes either.
