I saw them mid season and they were pretty good albeit against a weak opponent. I think this week game will be a good measuring stick to how they really are. If they take morris to the woodshed then I’ll be really impressed because I don’t think morris is as “bad” as the RB score would indicate.
To answer the original question I think they have a very good shot at playing in Champaign

Based on Catch—22’s latest geographical mapping for 5A, your ‘inevitable’ Sycamore vs. Sterling playoff game would actually be the 5A final.

Understood.
I know it’s not etched in stone, but ‘Catch’ is pretty spot on with the geographical lines he draws.

A finals match-up would be a good one!

Don’t crap on Catch’s efforts. And I’ve been around long enough to know his ‘fun’ projections are not future predictions. And yes, history points to both being in the upper bracket.

And if you’re referring to a rematch involving anything remotely tying back Carmel Catholic, they’re not beating anyone significant in the playoffs.
At least IMO.
They have to figure out how to play a full game, execute cleanly AND finish.

All I know is past
Sterling -Sycamore games back when they were both playing in the NIB 12 were good ones, especially playoff games. I hope he’s right, might be good not to play them this year.

You are inferring that Naz, St. Pat's, Boylan, etc can't beat either.

Yep - and good luck in the playoffs.

It looks like Sterling has a good path. Viator will compete and they are scrappy.

Carmel will have their hands full if they advance and host Sycamore. CCHS plays a combination of 17-18 J/S/F - they are VERY young and it shows. A year away IMO.

The one thing with Sycamore is I don't think they are a.good team if they have to play from behind.
I don’t think they’ve ever had to play from behind, lol Most Sycamore teams have good strong lines and good defense and I’m guessing this years team is the same. I’m guessing their a lot like Moline in our conference but again have not seen them play yet.

Double-wing is actually a formation.

Sycamore runs a Wing-T scheme.

They run it as double-wing formation and then ‘break-the-bone’ (designed in the 50’s) by placing a wing on the edge and keeping the fullback and second running back in the original wishbone formation.

And as mentioned, they go multiple with a spread formation. They like to run a lot of empty backfield.

Whatever offense they run, they're damn good. I know anything can happen on any given weekend and below is all for fun and for entertainment purposes only, but in the upper bracket Naz is the only contender that would come within 3 scores of Sycamore.
