Hard to believe the regular season is 2/3 over.

And we have teams that will be doing playoff things soon.

1 - That small town football is still the best.
2 - That yes, Richmond Burton is that good.
3 - That York is legit and an 8A contender
4 - That Lake Zurich will make someone’s life miserable in 7 or 6A
5 - That Reed-Custer we see you, apparently Wilmington didn’t.
6 - That Marist is a good matchup for Loyola, until they aren’t.
7 - That Maine South continues to say LOL to the CSL
8 - That Naperville Central is back, let’s just hope it’s not University if Texas back.
9 - That it’s not right for teams to be locked into conference games only. Let em out.
10 - That something has happened to Montini, Naz, and Marian on the wood pile. Bad things.

We are off and running to week 7.

MC played their worse game of the year by far....and still won! Teams need to get challenged to see how they respond, MC was challenged and came out on top. Learn from it and carry on.

🎢 - Refocused & not dead after 1 NSC koss in 3 years. Oh they also played discipline football, balanced offense & lock down defense. McNulty has not loss control of team. Sometimes you need teaching opportunities when teams get ahead themselves. On to next opponent ... doing what they do WIN 🎢💯

I fear that a faithful JCA fan, my true feelings tell me that this is not a game JCA will be within 2-3 TD's of Rice. I love em but no defense at all. my real fear is that if they don't luck their way through seedings in this playoffs season, I do not believe we will even see a game 3 much less a game four. Like I have said many times... If you never lose, winning is not as much fun. Hopefully I am full of ****!!! :)

How much of that Monitni/Naz talent is ending up at IC? Or staying home and going to their public school?

As long as they continue to score, I still think they'll be a handful for anyone. If they have a problem, it will be against a team which can score AND has a defense which will limit JCA's scoring. IC almost did it that way, but they didn't score as much as they needed to. You're not counting that game as a bad outing by the Hilltoppers, are you?

No Maaleus i'm not. What I did take from that outing though was we looked to be slow this year on D as opposed to previous years. And also, I still don't know who the linebackers are. We traditionally have one if not two pretty dominant ones. I think others that have known JCA for years would probably not disagree much with that statement. And your observation is right on. Unfortunately I think there are 3-4 teams in 4a that fit that bill.

You guys can go focus on Fright Fest now since Warren's next three opponents have a combined record of 3-15.

I’m hearing they’re pretty banged up.
you could say that, the last 2 weeks, it looks like they will have lost the only 3 returning starters they had from last year. They are so young, and hanging tough with everyone. I see a good 3 year run coming after this year.

Fair enough, but their opponents know that JCA is still JCA!

That when Mt. Carmel turns the ball over early and can’t get the running game going they may be vulnerable? As MC fans boast of QB’s shattering records and player of the year honors, receivers doing the same…. All state junior running backs and a vicious defense to boot. If MC doesn’t learn to get the running game going early and control the clock better especially heading into the playoffs with cold and rainy weather all those things mean nothing. BR did a masterful job of taking every tick of the clock down to nothing this past Friday night and put themselves in a great position to win. I’d love to see MC start doing the same. Grind it out running the ball that opens up the pass. Eat the clock and keep the other offense off the field. That ‘19 team with Kenena Odeluga were masters of it. I’d like to see this ‘22 team start doing the same. All these yards gained through the air will only become more difficult as the cold weather comes to town. Just ask JJ McCarthy and the ‘19 Nazareth team.

They know that and it will happen. The 19 team that Jordan coached started switching gears as the weather grew colder. They know they have the line and backs to do that, especially with Turbo healthy, which he wasn’t against BR. BR and SR had strong front 7 so we took advantage of their secondary. You gotta take what your given and score points. They will be fine

Good post, but McC is right. They'll be fine. Dupree's refusal to go down has rubbed off on the other players, including Denny Furlong. And the '22 defense is proving to be as crushing as the '19 D. BR put themselves in a position to win, but MC shut them down with a pair of sacks.

And what happens when MC faces a strong front “7” when the weather turns and we can’t turn to the pass? Seems we’ve had some trouble getting it moving on the ground? If this line is so strong why can’t we get the run going early? Not so sure it’s so easy to switch gears. Good teams with strong O-lines should be showing they’re capable of doing both.

I have full trust and faith in this team and staff. They scored 28 points with 2 rushing TDs. Always difficult to run indie against teams with strong fronts early because they are fresh....wear them down then take advantage. How many scores does Dupree have this year? About 10 maybe? He’s doing awesome.

They’ll be fine come the cold days. Let’s wait and see. Remember the first play of the Willowbrook game in 2019? 99 yard TD pass on a freezing day. Then Justin passed all over them. You can still pass in the cold and if it rains they’ll pound the ball inside with Dupree and outside with Manning and lean on the defense. They’ve been amazing all year, one off game on the road and the sky is falling.

I remember a 99 yard pass on our first series. I wouldn’t say “we passed all over them”. Also remember Odeluga grinding out the clock in the 3rd and 4th.

I’m not implying the sky is falling at all. I’m saying that this MC team has a hard time getting the running game going and it concerns me especially with the cold weather coming. Look at Duprees numbers vs. the top tier talent we’ve faced. Not a reflection on him at all but those numbers are juiced against the lower tier teams. Just an observation.

We (I) learned that after this past weekend the SWSC Blue has won 7 of the 8 cross-overs with the Red division although the average margin of victory in the Blue wins has fallen to "only" 21 ppg. Seven such match-ups remain the rest of the way.

Your narrative is skewed by Stagg. Take away their losses (Red teams have won just as big vs them as blue) and theres only been 2 or 3 blowouts between the crossovers and thats been at the hands of the top teams in the Blue who are also ranked high in the state. And those two teams that lost have won non con games vs playoff teams. Bradleys lost its two by a combined 4 pts, LWC was in it late vs HF, Andrew beat Sandburg.... Find something new to harp on. *Yawn*

The point-differential is skewed by Stagg (but what about Brook-46, LWW-6?) and playoff qualification is about wins, not how close you get. With 7 cross-overs left, if it goes to 10 wins for the Blue (and it will likely go higher) that will mean each team on the average gets saddled with 2 automatic losses again this season. That leaves a small margin of error when realistically trying to get to 5 wins out of only 7 games. Feel free to block my posts!

Pretty sure I mentioned the Brooks blowout win. Hence they are a Top 2 team in the conference. Its not an automatic loss. Bradley was beating HF and LP? And LWC was within a score of HF and let it slip...which means those are all competitive games that could go either way. Maybe the Red should lower their competition bc thats what society likes to do these days. Go somewhere else where it can just be an easy 9-0 season. I'm sure the Red schools beat the Blue schools in other sports. And it kind of is about how close you get. Because if games are close and competitive with each team having a chance to win most of the time then thats about as fair as you're going to get. Plus aren't the crossovers dropping down to 2 games next season.
