Thoughts on ESL VS CG

Absolutely PERFECT analogy. I think that knowing CG coaching staff will have their guys ready. Friday night Lights type of game….
CG will be there for 4 quarters competing! No question! Their discipline and patience play perfect. For ESL, Pursuit beats the option! Always! Change ups of responsibility, discipline doing it.. we’ll see! I am very excited for all games to come!

Your being a homer and while doing so you sound a bit disrespectful of just how good ESL really is. You need to cool your jets. Everyone is talking about how good Cary Grove is and that they are so disciplined myself included! That said no one is saying how Cary Grove will run up the score on ESL because it would be an upset. You know what wouldn’t be a surprise? Is if ESL beat the crap out of Cary Grove. ESL is a top talented team that can play with any team in the country that can be said about Cary Grove. Be humble and I hope your right that Cary Grove will give ESL a game. Good luck to both teams!
Agreed Corey. I have never seen such an insecure fan base as that of ESL. Makes no sense. They are damn good. I’m a firm believer if you have to keep telling everyone how good you are, you aren’t that good.
No one can beat ESL except ESL, and they are fully capable, with a little help from Cary Grove, of doing it tomorrow.

I could be wrong but I don’t think he’s a CG homer. Plenty of outsiders who think they know everything about both teams.
I am anything but a Homer. I simply know how teams have the most difficulty with CG type offenses. It is a tool that equalizes size and talent to some degree.
Is ESL LOADED. Absolutely. Most talented team in the state. But I love the Rocky analogy. Heart and Character can do amazing things when disciplined enough to see a dream through.
You need to read all the threads about ESL fans and their posts about lack of respect etc. The amount of times they have to continually tell everyone how good ESL is.
Look, I get it. But when someone says so and so may be competitive or make it a game or maybe has a chance to win, it’s not a slight to ESL, it’s an opinion.

This is actually sad. I have seen ppl all year say how good other teams are. Talk about how everyone they could think of would beat us and why. So you can take shoot at us and we can't talk back. ESL fan have been very humble as far as our team goes. And even if we win by a hundred tomorrow someone will write another narrative. The sad part yall will never admit the root of the narrative. I don’t think we’re insecure, we just defend our turf and challenge the sly comments. ESL always has a target on their back. Preseason polls, National rankings, were typically #1 in the state. Voted by no one that participates on this message board. D1 recruits, we normally have 4-8 D1 athletes. Big time games? We normally play high level talent during the regular season, not just playoffs. So every year our expectations are high, internally and externally. We don’t tell you we are good, the world does before we even play one down. We feel more like a stand alone team in Illinois. So our voices echo such.
And I am here to tell you that RANKINGS DONT MEAN ANYTHING! Prove it on the field and all that other crap takes care of itself.

And esl gets thrown in to alot of conversations that have nothing to do with them. Many times by people who arent the typical or obvious esl fans everyone on here complains about.
But they let the conference tell them what to do. I'd be calling BS on that and play up in 7a or 8a. Conference will not kick them out. No chance.

We did petition up. We are actually a 5A team by enrollment this year. You can’t jump up to 8A from 5A. Last I checked, you can only move up one class.
Yea, if I were you id educate myself a little more on that situation. Theres alot of talk (and I have spoken to multiple current swc coaches) who said when/if theres another vote, they would vote to remove esl from the conf.
And you cant just petition up to whatever class you want. You can only move up one class and esl is usually borderline 5a/6a enrollment.
Then check again. You can jump to whatever class you want. Phillips went from 4a to 7a a few years ago.

As for the game I think it will be competitive. I think people put too much stock on preparing for the 3x option, it's really not that difficult to "figure out" as a matter of fact it's been figured out, but you can't figure out being physically superior which I think Cary Grove showed they were in all their games this year. Don't think that will be the case today, so the question will be can they get yards in small chunks and sustain drives then on D can they limit the big plays?

Correction you can move up 2 spots Phillips went from 5A to 7A.
Sigh … I have noticed some Flyer Faithful a little bit in their feelings, but that’s neither here nor there.
The SWC passed a bylaw that limits ESL from petitioning to play above 6A, as other conference members are 7/8A and they did not want to see ESL in the playoffs. Once a year is enough for them.

I think they will be well prepared for the big plays and game plan for LB3. Our running game must be on point today to open up the pass. ESL also has some other good receivers. My concern is ball control. CG only needs 3-4 yards per play. That makes for a long drive, a tired defense and a lot of time off the clock. It’s a strategy that works.
Sorry you're wrong again. Stop trying to fit your narrative. Phillips petitioned up from 4a to 5a in 2018 won 5a. Then in 2019 petitioned up to 7a (still being a 4a enrollment team).
Again. They were a 4a team that petitioned to 7a. What's so hard to explain.
Phillips won 5A in 2017, was 6A in 2018 lost to CG in quarters and 7A in 2019 lost to MC.
Thanks for the history lesson. How come you didn't mention the 5 years prior they were 4a.
And played up in 5a from 4a. Why do you guys not explain everything. It's like you don't want everyone to know something.
