Yeah, ironically the first time I saw them in person this year was against Maine South. I'd heard they put up 60+ pts in one game and 50+ in another game at that point, but when they beat Maine South 52-21 I started to think "wow, they really got something here". But it's not just them - current varsity team is actually very junior laden and will have most of the skills positions returning next year, and when they lost to Conant this year, that was the first time those juniors had lost an MSL West game in their 3 years.
There is a freshman lineman who is absolutely enormous. He was suited up last week. I was on the sideline with my 8th grade nephew, and somebody said, “hey kid, THAT guy is only one year older than you!”

Yeah. He's like 6'5" 270lbs as a freshman. And he's good too.. Not just big

I’m curious why you and your nephew were on the sideline of a playoff game?

Must be on the Naz pass list like the guy that was wearing is Halloween costume/referee outfit a few years ago
Wow, how long has it been since y’all lost to the Caravan? I know you just hate all faith based anything, but for real let it go. Not sure the last time you were at Gately, but no one gets onto the field without a pass from Chicago’s field police.

Sorry I believe Glenbard west has only played the Caravan once in recent history and walked off with a hard fought 7-0 win. The poster was talking about being on the sideline at a Palatine game. Not sure what the pass policy is there. Wait did the Illini just run straight up the middle for another 15 yards first down against Ped State

Why are you curious?
I’m curious because such a big deal was made of it as the poster pointed out above and I remember a similar big deal being made of people from Maine south some years back being on a sideline during playoffs and the state game I believe that shouldn’t have been there. If it’s a team coach and his kid or nephew and he’s acting as ball boy I have no issue. If it’s something else everyone should be treated equally. If it’s wrong for one it’s wrong for all.

Congrats to Illinois, like I said in my other post the team left the door open and then proceeded to stub their toe.

Not sure how they stubbed their toe when they should have been off the field expect for a phantom PI call on a 4th and long.

Totally snuck out there. Happened to be dressed like a Taft coach in my new blue Yeezy hoodie, so I kinda blended in. Someone from Palatine finally asked security to check all the sideline passes. When the dude got to me, I just told him I was Catch-22 from Edgyland, and it worked. He said he loves my posts and thinks I'm hilarious. Lucky break.

Coincidentally enough, the aforementioned Naz sideline Halloween ref is one of my assignors for basketball officiating. And he assigns a league organized by the Taft head coach! Small world, full circle, goose, gander.... all that good stuff.

Anyways, nephew and I plan to don the blues again and head to HC tomorrow. Definitely hoping to stroll in with the GBS coaches. Fingers crossed!

Bruce,

perhaps you need to read some new perspective in the other thread from the OP. He was watching the CN100 feed and seems to think the PI call was good based on their angle and asking for opinions of impartial posters who were there in person.
My comment in this last post about leaving the door open was regarding Penn State’s loss to the Illini. I was there in Person and am in Maryland tonight praying for a different outcome.

If anything Illinois left the door open for Penn State. They dominated that entire game. PSU was fortunate to get the game to OT.

Our coaches said they were a great team. Big, physical and fast. Future is definitely bright in Palatine.

Incorrect on all fronts. Fact Check:

-NV beat St. Mary's (ranked #6 in Missouri) which is a better win than Palatine has and NV has beat a total of 5 playoff teams compared to Palatines 4.

-Palatines conference (Mid Suburban West) has almost zero football history to speak of. Conversely, the DVC has 40 years of rich football history and NOT just from WWS and GBN.

Mid Suburban West Conference:
0 State Champions
3 Runner Ups
3 Title Game Appearances Total

Dupage Valley Conference:
15 State Champions (West Chicago-1, WN-3, NN-2, NC-2, WWS-7)
11 Runner Ups
26 Title Game Appearances Total

Yes, the DVC has been down the last few years, but IL high school football did exist prior to 2018.

I think we live in different IL high school football worlds.

I’m going to tell people @dapiech is the real Pops.

Gotcha. Neuqua's reputation for choking in the playoffs will most likely prompt plenty of upset picks each week and I totally get that. While Palatine is a scary 7-3 team since they beat MS, NV will probably win by 2 TD's here. They have too much talent on both sides of the ball. Also, Northwest suburban football pales in comparison to football played in Dupage County. When's the last time anyone ever said..."That Mid Suburban West conference is such a great conference"?
I say it all the time

Not sure the Maine South situation is comparable since I believe that situation occurred in the finals.
Below is the sideline pass information from the IHSA guide, they get 30 passes.
Do you know they weren’t approved by the administration?
“5A, 6A, 7A, 8A) 30 sideline passes. These sideline passes are for all coaches, managers and anyone else that is approved by school administration.”
Nice example you used that the “Chicago Field Police” would never allow anyone onto the field at Gately without a pass. Mt. Carmel has been playing at their own field since 2019…
Maybe watch the video of the last play tonight and you will see a great number of people surrounding the end zone who rush onto the field to celebrate as the game ends. Don’t know how they got by those Chicago Field Police.

They certainly ran the ball but from your response guessing you didn’t watch the game. Penn State scored the first 10 points then couldn’t do Jack. Illinois tied the game with 11:49 left in the 4th. Penn State left the door open. I won’t discuss the reffing because I believe you can’t leave it to the refs to give you any help. The scoring drives from the game are below and yeah unfortunately I was there to watch that train wreck

Yes PSU had a lead but Illinois dominated time of possession and yardage. PSU couldn’t get off the field. Would have been a brilliant Feeto for that week.
Thank you for repeating what I said three times and proving you didn’t watch anything but the lowlights of the game. Again congrats to your Illini and their win!

Its a long shot but I'll take Geneva over St Rita 23-21.

If Geneva is able to get their screen and short passing game going they will be able to run the clock down and will have a shot in the fourth quarter. Also it will be miserable commute out the game for SR.
you were right about the I-294 traffic on a Friday night rush hour with all that construction....it sucked
