I'll admit that I know nothing about Swagger this year. Looking at their results it looks like they score quite a bit but have a defense that isn't quite as stout as years past. Is that the case?

Ill take Neuqua by a field goal. 24-21. They are rock solid and really physical on D. Their kicker has a leg on him. Best I saw all year.

Pretty tough to go against Inserra this time of year. I bet his kids will hustle and execute a great game plan all game.
If it is just a matchup of coaching then I agree. I hope NVs staff allows the kids to play to their strengths.

Yeah, I don’t know enough about Neuqua this year to make a logical guess on the outcome of this game. But I do know what to expect from a team under Inserra in November.

I think if anything our offense has put the defense in bad situations. MS needs to be more consistent on offense which at times has been a struggle.

Yep....Inserra has quite the history of producing in November. Quite the opposite here on the southside.

Yea, same with NV from time to time. Bad turnovers and too many penalties on the OL that put the defense in a bad place.

Buck I’m curious about the grass. With all of the speedy receivers you guys have had over the years I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t want turf. They looked really fast vs. Palatine. I know you said in another thread it gives them an advantage but it’s not like they’re winning championships left and right. JMHO

They have to play away playoff games too. 2019 at H-F being the last.

I think the Neuqua receivers know how to play on the grass. It’s a different kind of plant and cut and it’s a different angle on out routes with the lower field level vs the pocket.

As for titles….they have plenty Upstate 8 and DVC title banners hanging. They need to add something a bit more substantial to be considered a top 8A program.

Paging Ska? Where you at brother? Talk to us about the game!
LOL… I’ve been “monitoring” the situation… haha. OL’ POPS is just taking it all in, enjoying each game one at a time. Not to be “preachy,” but as you all probably know a couple EX NV football players died at that concert last weekend. and today my son, QB1, phoned me to inform me that one of his baseball teammates (Cangelosi Sparks-the club team not NV), has committed suicide. He was a special kid, a great friend of my sons, committed to play D1 baseball at University of Illinois, and now gone. Been a sobering few days to say the least. But it helps keep everything in perspective that each day is a gift, and JUST ENJOY THE MOMENT. I have a lot of fun reading all the comments and as you all hopefully KNOW by now(especially with my “relevance”), I’m DEFINITELY predicting a NV win-my final score is
NV 31
MS 17

Just awful all the way around. The Oswego East young man and now these 3. I can't remember a more somber few weeks.

Neuqua Valley has destroyed the opponents on their schedule, scoring over 30 points and giving up less than 10, except of course for the 2 point loss to Naperville North. Many are attributing that one loss to the Herculean efforts by the NN QB1 and not the play of Neuqua. They get tremendous O Line play, have an all conference wide out and an all world QB1. The defense is disciplined and sure tacklers.
Coupled that the game Saturday will be played on natural grass, which Swagger High has not played on in years and will most certainly neutralize MS’s tremendous speed. This will be a tough game for MS and the most formidable opponent this year.

I've been asking this question for years about NV. I cannot believe that a school that cost 100M to build does not have a turf field and has what looks like a hammy down scoreboard from the '70s. My hypothesis is that the school has prioritized other sports (it has rich traditions in many other sports) over the years and football hasn't had the success or the deep alumni to inspire additional investment. This team is FAR better on turf due to their athleticism and quickness. Grass field just levels the playing field for less quick teams.

I'm wondering if they have the same policy as D308 (Oswego) in which if one gets turf, they all do.

But wasn’t that installed when the school was built? They paid for it with a bond instead of the capital budget.

There you go. That sounds correct. This begs the question as to why the heck D204 would not have put the money toward this. Frankly, I think D204 has been known for other things than football and maybe have prioritized things like music, swimming, the arts etc...

I believe it has to do with new construction. If 204 were to build another school, that school would have to have turf as well.

Baseball program has been solid as well, but their field leaves a lot to be desired.

Frankly, having lived in D204 for a long time, sports are less of an emphasis than in D203. NN and NC have had turf for 10 years already and their baseball fields are far superior. NC's looks like a minor league teams field. But Im sure their athletic successes haven't hurt.

NC's was just redone, I believe, but yeah it's really nice. East Aurora has one of the nicest football facilities in the area, imagine that.

They play football at East Aurora?? haha. Didn't know that they had a nice field. With that said, Palatines' stadium was one of the nicest I've seen in the area. Home stands looked like a D3 school. (And yes, they seem to have really good/faithful fans that actually stayed until the end of the game even though they were losing badly.) ;)

EA program has turned it around somewhat in recent years, mostly do to the feeder program. In both 2019 and 2021 they were one win from the playoffs (yes that conference is really bad).

Bad conference or not what the coach has done there over the last few years is really impressive it is one of the toughest places to win in the state.
