Obviously Hillcrest must be a team to be leery of. They didn't get to 11-0 by being mediocre. Who are they playing this week? Noticed that everyone of your messages is about Hillcrest and love the fact you strongly back what is obviously your favorite team. Can you tell us more about Hillcrest and it's strengths and weaknesses.?

I was not aware that Hillcrest fielded a football team and thought they were a basketball only school since 1974. Always have great athletes.

When track & field first went to 3 classes, they had a few years grabbing some state-placing team trophies in 2A. In fact, Cahokia, their upcoming opponent, was a major competitor for that hardware. Earlier in this millennium, they had a few 8-1 (give or take) FB seasons, benefiting from some of those elite basketball and track athletes, but they were eliminated very early. For a few years after that run, they had a winless streak that spanned about 3 seasons, before this recent turn-around.

I do remember a string of 20 win basketball teams as well at Hillcrest. The park district had a field turf football field for years but the HS did not. Has that changed?

HC and the 3 other D228 schools (OF, TP, BR) have had all-weather fields for 2 seasons now. Work is currently under way on all 4 campuses for modest "fieldhouses."

What about the QB? Some earlier posts said he was out after their game against T.F. North.
Any truth to this ?

He is out. They went with the wr they were going to use at QB instead and haven't missed a beat.

When it comes to track and field Cahokia and Hillcrest have a strong dislike for each other simply because for a while those schools were 1-2 when it came to track in class 2A so I’m sure this game is a little more personal then people might think.

I rally like what Clay has done at Cahokia. Got his wings learnin under Flyers’ Coach Sunkett - has playing pedigree out the butt.

Cahokia can build programs - they have the athletes. Track proved that - wrestling years ago was tops and is coming back.

I hope the same for Football under Clay.
