Must admit that the only thing that generated any interest in my watching the sad 2024 season of The Temple football Owls was The Evan Simon Story. It might make for a pretty good movie someday.

Harasymiak does not have good "first games" against Temple

In 2022, as RU DC, Temple gained more yards than Rutgers, losing 16-14, and their QB EJ Warner had a good day.
In 2023, he fared better against Temple when EJ Warner threw 2 INTs, but for 230 yards.

Good for Evan - great game for him and glad to see him succeeding. Only one game and UMass hasn't exactly lit the world on fire lately either, but I was very impressed that Temple landed Keeler last cycle, and he seems to already be doing his thing (i.e. winning).

Guys like him who won consistently as HCs at multiple stops at lower levels (seriously, Keeler has won a lot of games) are the kinds of coaches getting hired, and succeeding, at P4 gigs (ex. Cignetti, Leipold). Was kind of amazed Temple pulled off hiring him - like, in a hypothetical world where RU had a HC opening, if we hired Keeler I'd be pumped. I'd expect yesterday to be the first of many wins for him there.

Leipold? Great at DIV 3. He was just OK at Buffalo, and he's 24-28/13-33. Pump the brakes and wait a while before declaring him the second coming of Bear Bryant.

Cignetti has won everywhere he has been, including 1 year at P5.

Keeler? He was fired for trending down at Delaware. He also had several losing seasons at Sam Houston. Overall, a solid W-L record, but at a "higher" level compared to his other stops, he was ultimately fired.

Leipold? Great at DIV 3. He was just OK at Buffalo, and he's 24-28/13-33. Pump the brakes and wait a while before declaring him the second coming of Bear Bryant.

But for now I'd say he stands a good chance to be considered in the Saban. Bryant,Urban & Knute class.
I'll wait and see if he continues to have the type of success he had before becoming a Hoosier , either at Indiana or
being good enough so a blue blood like Alabama goes after him and he continues to preove he's one of the best in his profession.
I think if Lance makes the Jayhawks a respected program, a blue blood might look his way .
Leipold looks like he's making Kansas a pretty decent program from a bottom of barrel one.
Just like we are seeing from the way Rutgers has improved ( first under G1) now under G2

Generally agree with what you said, but this statement from the poster to whom I responded is way premature for both Leipold and Cignetti and incorrect as it applies to Leipold: "and succeeding, at P4 gigs (ex. Cignetti, Leipold)." Having a losing record after 3 years is not "succeeding." For that matter, 1 winning year like Indiana had last year is nice, but there area examples of coaches with 1 year of success that could not be replicated--Mel Tucker comes to mind.

IMO Delaware was out of their minds to fire Keeler - he was in the FCS national championship game 2 years before they canned him. He had more mediocre years there than he has anywhere else, but if 86-52 overall with 3 national title game appearances and a win wasn't good enough for Delaware, not sure he was the problem. (His replacement, our old friend Dave Brock, didn't have much success there either, though they're doing well now with former perpetual Rutgers OC candidate Ryan Carty at HC). As far as I can tell, his only losing season at Sam Houston was 2023, which was their first year in FBS, so that's understandable (not to mention they turned it around to 9-3 last year).

Re: calling Leipold the second coming of Bear Bryant, I...didn't do anything remotely approaching that, so I'll just assume that's more directed at those on the board who've pumped him up for years. For the record, I do think he's good, but jury's out on how much of his success was attributable to Kotelnicki, his old OC who left for Penn St. Kotelnicki's replacement didn't seem to work out well last year (though he wound up getting the Wisconsin OC job for his troubles...go figure).

Yeah, there is a Leipold cheer team here that pumps him up. What he did at D3 WW was impressive. Did not exactly translate to Buffalo, and realize that Kansas was a huge project to turn around.
I like Keeler, but I like Cignetti better--but that is way premature. Shame that Cignetti waited until he was 65 or 66 before cashing in on B1G money in P4.
