The Hawks have a really tough league slate, and getting 5 wins will be far from easy. Since I am almost always wrong on things like this I will guess the under in order to guarantee it will actually be over.

You are correct of course. That was 31 years before Nebraska joined the Big Ten. 17 years before UN's last national title, which they talk about like it was yesterday.

C'mon. You can't possibly think that Iowa football in the '60s and '70s is just as relevant as Nebraska's performance since joining the Big Ten.

All I am saying is that what a team has done in prior years has no bearing or relevance on THIS season. Nebraska may have sucked the past 10 years but that doesn’t automatically mean they will suck this year.

You could make a case for Nebraska having a good year. They've been trending up and have a relatively easy schedule. That's more relevant than their 10 year history, most of it under a different coach.

The program took quite a jump last year. It wasn't a fluke, they can score some points. That said, it's a tough call. The first two conference games will likely tell the tale. They could easily end up 9-3 or 10-2 again. Lose to Illinois and Iowa and things could get rough.

Well, yeah. A one year outcome is more likely than a 20 consecutive year pattern of outcomes

Like it or not, Nebraska has improved under Rhule. They were within one possession on every loss last year except Indiana. They have a more experienced QB and a favorable schedule. It's likely they'll have another winning season.

HOW do they open @ Cincinnati? WTF?

It is. Their best shots at a W are Maryland and @ Minnesota. Fickell is trending the wrong way 7-6, 5-7 and this year could easily be 5-7 or 4-8. Imagine if Miami, OH upsets them in the opener?

the difference between 10-2 and 6-6 is a razor’s edge this year. overall on paper this is a fine team but the schedule means that we’ll need some bounces and the mental makeup of the team has to be like steel. having or and psu at home is nice but in a sense could also be a total waste of hime field advantage. tough to go with the over.

True but it was obvious that things were different early on in Fry's tenure. The team played more aggressively, the culture had shifted and Hayden had the fans on his side. The 8-4 1981 season was certainly the breakout, but it was apparent that something different was happening under Fry.

I get you. I was there for the first game against Lee Corsos Indiana team and things felt different right away ( though we lost).
