They spent $10mm on a HS QB. This is nothing to them.
Difference is they admitted to a level 2 to the COI. Over the next four years, they can be cited and an investigation is triggered. It's hanging over their heads and every cfb coach in America knows it now. I think Michigan takes a big hit here on the recruiting trail and on the field. Personally, I would have invoked the postseason ban but getting them to admit cheating and not appeal was about as good as you could get under the bylaws.

Had zero impact on their performance on the field and they should have been paid then anyway. Give USC their wins back too.
Admitting it doesn't mean guilt--it means they're agreeing to it to end the never ending investigation. It's like a civil case when you agree to pay a settlement. it doesn't mean your guilty.

Honestly, what's the pitch that will prevent a kid from going there when ultimately it's about money? Nothing will happen to Michigan--they're a cash cow--the NCAA is full of cowards. We ended the NCAA's power years ago--accept it.

Their coach is a lame duck.
They can't have you on an official.
They can't communicate with you.
They are on probation. You could be at a school that gets banned from post-season or worse even after further minor infractions.

I'm no fan of the NCAA and it's evident they have less authority than even a decade ago but Joe Bar stool has no idea how this works. The NCAA lawyers get what they can get when they get it. I would have preferred a one-year postseason ban added.

those recruiting sanctions will be spread out over time, won't amount to much...words on the street after underwood flip and this decision, you will be compensated at UM, and that's what most kids care about
And they're going to say "how much money are you offering?" None of that hinders recruiting. Michigan will say...we didn't cheat, we settled; they ensure them Morris is staying just like all programs that hire coaches, etc

That $ is chump change to Michigan. They admitted to cheating and the NCAA essentially said, no big deal.
Four year probation. Yeah, if they have a violation again the NCAA will once again look the other way.

There was never gonna be a vacated title as NCAA has zero to do with 1-A football championships.
My issue with this is if Moore gets a 2-year show cause, he should be out of a job NOW and not after some lame duck period and certainly not a ‘choose your adventure’ 3-game suspension. That would really handcuff this year’s team so close to the season starting.
