OT- Mitchell for WNBA MVP?

I understand how you feel, but how a player ranks is pretty important. Collier is the statistical leader in the W right now, and her defense is outstanding. She also has the highest efficiency rating as well. She's at the top in scoring average, although Wilson is right behind her. Mitchell's efficiency rank is a little over half of Collier's, and well behind Wilson's, although she's third in scoring. The Lynx are the top team right now, and the defending champions the New York Liberty are 5.5 games behind in second place. If Mitchell is going to have a shot at MVP, she'll have to lead them to the Finals IMHO.

Don't get me wrong. I think she will win too and she has had the best season.

I just want the media to continue to give her flowers for what she has done this year.

This league is so funny. Early in the season, when CC missed her fourth or fifth game, the pundits were saying she would not win the MVP because no MVP has ever missed more than four games. Now Collier has missed 10 yet they’re still going to give her the MVP that they had already awarded her before the season started. And in those 10 games, I believe the team has won pretty much all of them without her. Then Coach Reaves says the MVP should be the best player on the best team, yet Wilson was not on the best team last year, in fact the team was worse last year than the year before when she didn’t win it. It’s the only league that determines the MVP before the season starts and makes the argument fit as the season goes on.

Jones missed 5 games when she won the MVP award.

Collier was not the favorite to win the MVP this season...she was behind at least Wilson and CC and only became the front runner when the other 2 (and their teams) struggled as the year developed. Not sure how you can claim that everyone wanted her to win it before the season started.

MN is 7-2 since Collier got hurt...imagine what the Fever's record would be w/ out Mitchell. Or the Aces w/ out Wilson.

I don't think either team would have had anywhere close to the success they have had if those 2 had been out.

I doubt we hear Reeve mention that.

Do they have comparable injuries to what Indiana has?...................

Reeve's argument for Collier is that Minny was 23-4 with Collier, and without her the team would not be in the league leading position that they are now. The supporting cast there also had a lot to do with that IMO. I believe her main point is that Collier makes the others, and therefore the team better, and deserving of the award.

Re: bolded part above...yep, which to me makes her case a little less impressive, but Reeve isn't known for being unbiased.
