woo hoo, a bill was passed through committee.....now on to 60 votes in the Senate in order to proceed, then after passage in the Senate, on to the house.....

Ossoff is up for re-election. Let's just see if this is political posturing or if they can get a bill to the president, who just might veto it.

It's almost like you ignored the most important part of this post concerning the president's repeated assault on public health and Ossoff's attempt to rectify his actions for the American people. When will you care more about that than the machinations that could likely cause this bill to fail? It's not a win if it does get vetoed so keep that in mind.

I highly doubt it and even worse for you, he may even end up being your next President 🚬

Does anyone outside of GA and hardcore politicos even know who he is? Didn't know he was on the radar of a presidential run.

I have the inside scoop on a real potential dem candidate for next cycle, and I actually like the person. I know their spouse well.

Gonna share? I'd love some good candidates.

I will say this. I watched the Pete Buttigieg interview on the Shultz podcast this morning. He's one of the few Dems who I've seen be able to go to Conservatives, particularly white men, and win then over. It was pretty damn impressive. I don't know if America is ready for an openly Gay President, but the messaging and style plays really well.

Not sure but he's made national news a few times with his campaign speeches. Smart, extremely well-spoken, good looking young guy who could probably create ripples if he decided to jump in. I see a lot of support for him in my social media anyway.

Do tell on your mystery candidate? Is he a South Carolinian?

so, ossoff is right? Now I know you know more than I, or most other living humans for that matter, about health, and just about every other subject ever discussed, but how did the CDC do during the pandemic? And what is being cut in that 50% ? What will be the effect of cutting by 50%, research, people, overhead? Now I don't know but apparently you do. Could you let us know so we can form our own opinions about whether or not these cuts are a good or bad idea?

Oh, and it occurs to me that not too long ago you were concerned about the $3.4 trillion deficits that the Trump administration would run up over 10 years. Cutting CDC, it seems, might help to alleviate your concerns by reducing that deficit. Are you now moving off your previous position about deficits, or is it just that since the Trump admin is making the cut, it's automatically bad.

It's not that I care about the machinations, but as I posted before, you highlight passage from a committee. BFD, lots of things pass committee in either house or Senate that never make it to the president. You seem to believe it's a big deal. It's not. As I posted yesterday, I believe, Bernie dropped a bill to cut off military aid to Israel....again BFD. Posturing....It went nowhere. Stuff like this happens all the time. I would have thought that a person of your knowledge would recognize that a Senator up for re-election in Georgia would make a big deal out of getting something passed - in committee - for an organization headquartered in, you guessed it, Georgia. Again, a person of your knowledge and intellect will probably notice that senators or representatives will drop many bills benefiting their constituencies between now and November 2026. Posturing. They can campaign on "I proposed a bill to...." (pick whatever topic you want). Now if this doesn't make sense to you, communicate with Tboone....I think he's actually smarter and knows more about everything than you do. He might even be able to read ossoff's mind to find out what really was behind his actions.

You know what, I was cool with you before but now you've just become an *******. I'll respond to the rest of your post if/when I get more time but thanks for letting me know where we stand so I can respond with the appropriate amount of venom, but for the record, I don't believe I'm all that smart but I do read voraciously, so I do know what I'm talking about for the most part.

I am still cool with you. But, at some point someone has to point out to both you and Tboone, that there are people who might not be as smart or as knowledgeable but who have different opinions that might have some validity. But you two come across, to me at least, as knowing everything, to include what others think, and discount the viewpoints of others. As I pointed out in one of my posts, I have my viewpoints and they are just as valid as yours. I may be wrong (as might you) but I am straightforward and anything but duplicitous.

You don't like Trump and in my opinion it clouds just about anything you post. Everything this administration does is automatically wrong - with maybe a minor exception. And that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion. But just because I might have a different viewpoint on some issues does not make me duplicitous. I laid out in one of my early morning posts some of the things I believe. Some agree with Trump and maybe others don't. You don't like it when my views mirror Trump's, tough.

I don't know everything, but I at least am smart enough to know that there are normally, if not always, two sides to every issue. You might try looking sometime.

I also read voraciously...national papers, WSJ, USA today, Washington Post and even some small market McClatchey papers. But, I think I have much greater life experiences than you. I know how a bill becomes a law, I know the games that politicians play, I know how to work the process to my advantage. How, I was a lobbyist for a defense firm for 10 years. So instead of telling me how the people are thinking, and what the actions mean, you might consider asking

One of the benefits of boards like this is the ability to learn from others who might have different experiences than your own. Explaining things based on experiences is not duplicitous. In fact I would think posters might encourage debate. You could be right 75% of the time, but that means you're not 25%.

I don't like controversy. And I hope that reading this post and the one that highlights some of the things I believe, will give you a better insight of who I am. I know I'm not always right. I just apologized to Tboone on a subject where he was right and I was wrong. But, I also know I'm not always wrong.

Hope we can put this behind us

Can't share. This person is being asked by leaders in the party to run though. Not a household name, but has held major positions. Political profile would be moderate, no woke BS, economically oriented. Exactly who y'all should run.

RE Buttigieg: He presents well, but what exactly has he accomplished or managed to be president of the US? Mayor of a 100K person town? About the same size as Mt. Pleasant... What major, complex decisions has he had to make? What world leaders or major business executives has he negotiated with? Person I mentioned above is exponentially more qualified, as are many others. He just talks well and has had the party promote him. But much of the country are simps who will go for a smooth talker, so it could work out for him.

I'm excited to see it. I'm just ready for some new voices and new leaders. The old men is getting a bit ridiculous.

Fun Fact: A$$off is up for reelection in GA. Where is the headquarters for the CDC you ask? Atlanta, GA. I'd say it's definitely political posturing. Come to think of it I haven't heard that ******* name in almost 5 years....until now.

Fun Fact: Since Ossoff is a Senator from Georgia, which means he was elected to advocate for Georgians, it's not political for him to look out for Georgians who work at an agency in Georgia. 🤤 🤡

that's true, but lets see how far he's able to push this the house and Senate. As I posted previously, anybody can drop a bill. It's a little harder to get it through the entire process and signed into law. How far do you think this one will make it?

With anti-public health Cro-Magnons in the other party, not very far. Who needs expertise when you can just take Ivermectin?

well if you know that, then ossoff is also aware. So he publicizes a bill that even we know is going nowhere. Like I said, posturing

I did like the ken burns documentaries.

you should watch "Vietnam, the turning point" Not burns I believe but very enlightening about the honesty of our politicians, both parties, by the way
