I know there are regulatory hoops to jump through so not sure how quickly this goes into effect, but interesting timing with ESPN just a few weeks away from launching their DTC service.

This is not a positive development although it has been inevitable for a while now.

ESPN will put the Redzone behind the ESPN/Disney plus paywall which they disguise as their new DTC.

This whole DTC service will be interesting to see how it changes live TV viewing the next few years. ESPN channels will still be available through typical means even though their standalone service is launching. I presume that applies to NFL Network too but not sure how it affects Red Zone.

Simultaneously as they are launching the DTC, Disney is buying Fubo and merging it with Hulu under one parent company. Both of those services currently offer Red Zone so I doubt they’d lose that.

YouTubeTV has rights to Sunday Ticket now so it would be surprising if the NFL took Red Zone away from them.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like it will be offered through both the ESPN DTC and the other providers, just produced by ESPN now. The NFL+ service that offers RZ may die as part of this but not sure how popular that even is.

Redzone is available on other platforms other than YouTube TV. ESPN is going to ruin a good thing with Redzone.
