As mentioned, Caitlin Clark was back in Des Moines, spreading generosity and remembering her hometown. She handed out backpacks to 500 wide-eyed kids who need them for school next month. But that’s not all. Her foundation also worked with big companies to give away a new mini-pitch basketball court, meals, books and school supplies.

I hope not. For whatever reason it didn’t work out. Who knows why it fell apart. As far as I know, she hasn’t been on a mission to bash Indiana. Bonner is a Hall of Famer. That said, I do expect some hardcore fans in attendance to give her a rough time.

She got benched for poor play, and then quit on the team while refusing to play for the fever, refusing to play for teams who might trade her, and forcing an outright release, all the while cashing checks. While they have acquired pieces to shore up her departure, she screwed up the 2025 free agency by taking a $200K spot that could have been spent on a different free agent. If she gets booed she deserves it.

I can appreciate that sentiment. I’m not too bothered by the boos because of what you stated. They will need to police the moronic Karl Ramrahds of the world who would take it to an improper level.

I dont watch that garbage. That's all you pal 😂

Eta: if they did a game where all the fans could purchase a dilldow if they so choose and get 1 opportunity to throw it on the court or at a player any time during gameplay then I would definitely be in.

Not much from Bonner who got 21 MINS, 4 PTS on 1-4 shooting and 1 REB in first game back as an ex-Fever player. Bibby has played pretty well IMO.

The Fever have won three straight to get to 15-12. Now it's @ Dallas, Seattle, LA, and Phoenix in the next week. It would be nice if they could win at least two of those games to maintain their place in the standings. Minnesota is the clear top team, but then there are only 4.5 games separating 2nd place NY and 9th place Golden State. A good stretch of play could put the Fever in 3rd place, while a bad stretch could sink them to 8th.

The home win vs Phoenix was a good boost because playing without Clark, the Fever battled back from a 1stQ 10 point deficit to take control before halftime. Fever outscored the Mercury 35-20 in the 2ndQ.

Now the road trip

@ Dallas. Bueckers is elite and you never know when Ogunbowale will go off. Tough but doable.

At Seattle and Phoenix - a win at either venue is a stolen victory, especially Phoenix who will be eager for revenge.

I contend Bueckers is very good but not yet elite.
If I set aside my heavy Iowa bias, I believe PB is (roughly) as talented as Clark although each have different skills unique to their game.

Both are scorers. Clark has better shooting range, Bueckers is a mid-range assassin. Both can drive and finish.

Clark is clearly the better passer - this is what sets her apart from every other player in the league or any player at any level. Her combo scoring/passing ability is awe inspiring and historically unique.

Beuckers is a decidedly better defender. Clark is working on this part of her game but chips on the table there isn’t a coach who would go with Clark over Bueckers to get a defensive stop.

Both are good rebounders who don’t mind mixing it up inside to get a board.

Edge to Clark. Bueckers not too far behind IMO but not close enough to think twice.

Clarknitive Dissonance: the psychological discomfort experienced by Caitlin Clark’s detractors when confronted with overwhelming evidence of her long-standing talent, popularity, and impact—contradicting their biased beliefs or false memories, such as the claim that she wasn’t widely known before the 2023 NCAA championship. This dissonance often leads to denial, goalpost-shifting, or revisionist narratives to justify their stance.

And ofc the belief that Caitlin did the hand in the face to HVL is another big misapprehension, maybe the biggest.

Agree on all counts. Health permitting. PB will be a top 5 player in the league. She's super versatile, and consistent. Probably more consistent then CC22. CC22 has her as an elite passer and she has the WOW factor.

Sophie spills on what her Mercury teammates & other players were feeling and saying last season; the animosity continues this season.

What follows is just more proof that Caitlin has had a target on her back from day 1 and that a lot of players simply cant stand her (for many ridiculous reasons, of course).

The story from ESPN:

Sophie Cunningham torches critics of Fever teammate Caitlin Clark

July 31, 2025

When it comes to the face of the WNBA and the player taking the league to new heights, the Indiana Fever's Sophie Cunningham minces no words.

Cunningham says critics of teammate Caitlin Clark don't just come from the stands or via social media either. There is a resentment from players in the league that the seventh-year guard finds abhorrent.

"It literally pisses me off when people are like, 'She's not the face of the league.' What?" Cunningham said on her new podcast, "Show Me Something." "There's really good, well-known people in our league. I'm not discrediting them. We have a lot of badasses in our league. Hell yeah to that. I'm all for that. But when people try to argue that she's not the face of our league or our league would be where we're at without her, you're dumb as s---. You're literally dumb as f---."

Cunningham was with the Phoenix Mercury last season, when Clark was a rookie, and said teammates planned to zero in on the young star player.

"I know the talks Phoenix had in their locker room of, like, 'We're going to show her what the W really is,'" Cunningham said. "I get it to a certain extent. Every rookie coming into the league, that's how you're going to treat them. But there's just more for her. It's her second year. Now being on her team and seeing it, I'm like, 'What are people doing?' It's just too much."

Cunningham came to Clark's defense on the court earlier this season in an incident with the Connecticut Sun's Jacy Sheldon and Marina Mabrey.

Clark has been limited to 13 games this year because of multiple leg injuries, and her 16.5 points per game are below her 19.2 mark over 40 games last season when she was named WNBA Rookie of the Year.

But within those 13 games was a matchup with Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky that drew 2.7 million viewers, making it the most-watched WNBA game in 25 years. Teams in smaller home arenas have moved their games to bigger arenas for matchups with Clark and the Fever.

"This is what we've always wanted as a league, so like, who cares who gets the credit," Cunningham said. "And if you're smart, [you know] you're making money off them. ... Just be nice. Why can't people be nice?"
