I’m fully aware of the talent MA has. I know they’re good - but people are talking like Tarboro doesn’t have any talent on the field and don’t stand a chance. That’s okay though. We don’t mind the disrespect.
You Tarboro guys are freaking sensitive as heck! You would think I was being disrespectful.....but no jmo. Said y'all were Atheletics as crap and good.
I feel other than East Surry 2019...This is the first team an entire fan base from the most recent 1a western regional championships that are coming fully expecting to win. Most teams and fans are a little squee-mish when it comes to facing Tarboro. I think Mt.Airy is very confident and respectful of Tarboro and what they anually bring to the table. I just think it's Mt.Airy's year. All it took for me was a 62-7 thrashing of a pretty good East Wilkes team for me to know...that Mt.Airy wouldn't lose the rest of the year, regardless of who they face. That is barring injuries. Tarboro deserves all the respect in the world for what they do..but I feel

I can tell this is going to be one of those weeks where everyone not involved in the actual playing and coaching of the game knows in advance exactly what the outcome will be. I’m ready for a super competitive championship game. We honestly haven’t had a real nail biter since the 2012 2A game against East Lincoln. Bring it on! If Tarboro wins, we go home happy. If we don’t, we always have next year. It’s how HS football should be.
Not really Tarboro Vikings fan 2018...i really don't see any hate..when people hate..then they want you to lose. I just see a confidence in the Mt.Airy and adjacent area of the talent Mt.Airy is coming to Raleigh with. Most of the time there are more people even in the West on a yearly basis than really think the West is just playing for 2nd place...this year is similar to the 2019 year...where people really thought East Surry had more than a chance to knock off Tarboro...It's all talk and speculation..it's definitely not a want...to see Tarboro lose from most sentiments..but both teams will be challenged this year...I will eat big time crow soufflè and congratulate Tarboro if they blow out Mt.Airy.
I know those actually associated with the MA program have the upmost respect for Tarboro. They know this will be the toughest opponent MA has played all year. Tarboro will come in fundamentally sound and well prepared for battle. Tarboro deserves their respect, as they have been to 6 straight state championship games. Each MA player and coach are preparing for a 4 quarter battle on Saturday, as it should be for a state championship.
The offense that Mt Airy runs was ran by Edenton when Tarboro faced them in the eastern finals 2 years in a row. In 2 games they scored a total of 7 points. Tarboros defense will be ready, I’m looking forward to Saturday.

The fact that Tarboro comes into this game as the underdog is hilarious to me. Is Mt Airy good? Absolutely. Is Tarboro good? They’re the best team in the state. Not only will Tarboro win this game, they will led by all underclassman in the backfield including a freshman and a sophomore carrying most of the load. Tarboro will show up and done what they’ve done all year. I’m taking this coaching staff experience wise over anyone in the state. Tarboro by 2 scores.
The NW conference will be representing the West for the 5th time in past 6 years in the State

This MA team is a lot better all the way around than the 2017 team. Alot more speed and playmakers. The D is legit.
Alot of people forget 2017 ship it's was 12-0 Tarb with 6:32 left in game. That Tarb D was impressive.
I thought 17 was good. Your QB was a nice dual threat QB along with a really dangerous D1 receiver and a really good running back.
This team is prob 2008 2009 MA good.
I have compared the 2008 16-0 state Champ team & 2022 and they practically mirror each other in 15 of the 16 games with the exception of 2022 losing to East Surry by 2 points.
What's question marks for Td that 08 team was beast they were the best until a team comes along knocks them boys off top that's where I'm going to hold them
I said somewhat mirrored. Both 6 shutouts & low points were allowed. Points scored in 2022 could have matched 2008 which is in 3rd place of most points scored statewide, in all schools. Of course, 2008 could have been over 1000 as could 2022 if 1st string played 3 Qtrs every game.

I think it’s pretty neat you all keep it rolling and have a chance to win it every year. I like to keep up with TN football. Alcoa just won their 8th straight. They had a new coach this year but he had been the DC since 2004. It was his 16th state championship at Alcoa.
Same thread, different year. Tarboro walks on the field different than any other team. They gotta confidence that's visible from the stands. You'll see. They'll hoist the trophy.
Both sides have a good look at it. Penalties, special teams and turnovers. Nuff said.

After Duke won by double digits, Quinn told the guys in the locker room “Duke is never the underdog” . With all of the computer point spreads I’ve seen, that’s what popped in my head about this game.
Mount Airy may very well beat Tarboro on Saturday, in fact I think they have a good shot of doing so. But regardless of what happens, this is Tarboro Football - we ain’t no underdog.

Yep...no one in their right mind has you guy's goin in as the underdogs...it's Mt.Airy's year...but every year has been Tarboro's.
My question is, when Tarboro goes in and wins Saturday, all of you saying Mt Airy will win this year, what will be your excuse? I wanna start hearing the excuses now.
There are no excuses to be heard because there will not be a need for any. I”ll say it like you did then: When Mount Airy goes in and wins Saturday, what will be Tarboros’ excuse? Tarboro just needs to bring it and we will do the same. Leave it all on the field.
why would I? tarboro has been beaten at the state championship 3 times since 2008, because they were simply outplayed and made critical mistakes, mostly the mistakes in 2012. If you simply outplay us and beat us, congratulations to the players.
Not sure is the MA posters have been paying attention over the years but the Tarboro posters are the best of any school’s fans on this site. Occasionally, very occasionally, someone might post something that surprises me but make excuses? Na, they will congratulate you and start preparing for next year.
Usually the posters that come on here and post really ridiculous things are not actual Tarboro posters they're really just posters from other schools trying to make us look bad. Like in the 2017 Tarboro Mount airy thread we had a poster come in there and say Tarboro was going to win 63 to 7 and that he was being generous and that the bears were going to get annihilated and all this and that I haven't seen that individual since. And while us Tarboro posters believed we were going to win, you never saw us making really ridiculous and downright disrespectful score predictions and talking down to the team I mean they made it they deserve to be taken seriously.
