Voting on 7classes. Also may push it through without the 75%.
How would they do that, BK? Wouldn‘t they have to change the bylaws, which in itself would require schools to vote? At least, that’s my understanding.

Can not get around the 3/4 vote….they said it more than once today…only way is a vote to do that….not happening…best thing is to have everyone on this site contact their principal after first of the year and ask them to vote…Principal gets the only vote

Sportsnut, do you know if there is a mechanism in the bylaws that would allow schools to be fined for not voting?
I do not believe there is. I just don’t understand a Principal not voting on anything that is put before them. I would think that the AD would even be in Principal office advising him if needed.

Years ago wrestling, track, and golf were classified separately in 1A and 2A. Weren’t any issues then and it provided all schools and athletes an opportunity to compete for state titles. This was used due to a classification not having enough teams in said sport to put a playoff bracket together. I don’t see an issue with it.
Individual championships for wrestling, track & field (not relays), gold, tennis, et al should be open 1A-4A. Line up and let the best individual win. I do not really care if a 100 meter sprinter went to Cherryville or Mt Tabor. Note, the four national prep records holders came from 4A (two at small 4A schools in football that year), 2A, and 1A. Two of the best wrestlers out of the state were from a 2A and a 1A high school.

It's called the Individual Team tournament.
A state title for the team is on the line.
Way should a 1a team have to compete vs 4a in wrestling but not any other team sport?

It is a team title
Mike Kendall told me he wished it was open so he could show people again who the best in the state is. Ask JBM if he would have liked to have wrestled in an open state tournament instead of classifications.

Felt that way as a competitor in individual sports. I saw it as one man against another man. Gee, I can't wrestle or race him, he goes to a bigger school. Come get your trophy.

BK wrestling needs to be at 3 classes. Not enough 1a schools. 1a right now doesn’t even get to wrestle a full tournament at states with just 8 kids total making it.
1-700 1a
701-1400 2a
1401-xxxx 3a

What is that?
Plenty of wrestlers to make a bracket from.
Just what I wish would be done for wrestling. That’s how I would break down the classes for wrestling. There isn’t enough kids in the 1a state tournament. 2a, 3a, and 4a get 16 kids in the state tournament which makes for a better tournament.

IMO the state needs to just let 1A kids in the blood rounds wrestle for 5-6. Big difference between a 1A wrestling room with 15-25 kids and a large 4A with 75 kids on the roster.
