SD has a few more winnable games on the non-conference schedule. Might get 2-3 wins this year which is a big improvement.
I haven't checked their schedule but I would like to see SD win 5 games. If I'm not mistaken the last time they were able to do that was when Coach Hayes was there many years ago. Coach Hayes also had a bulldozer for a RB named Chris Dobbins during that time frame as well. Dobbins was good for 4-6 yards every time he carried the ball.
They won 5-6 games a few times under John Shelton after Hayes left in the early 2000's. Remaining winnable games Chatham Central, S Stanly, Lexington and maybe West Davidson. If Coach gets 3-4 wins he will be a hero in Denton.
I agree 100% on the 3-4 wins. Those kids (young men) deserve it. They work hard down there every year! What kind of offense/defense are they running at SD this season?
SD has been improving the last few years, i know their record doesnt show it but they had several games they lost in the last minutes of the game, they definitly have a good shot at winning 5 games this year, its just tough to compete in the conference
They also beat Lexington. Granted Lexington's in dire shape but never did I ever imagine that would be a result I'd ever see. The talent is there; no reason why they can't win a handful of games each year.
After thinking about it, the question I have is this. Let's say SD does win 5 games this year. Do you guys think that would be enough to make the state playoffs? I know this may sound crazy but man if that were to happen the community would go bananas .

Like i said before this team has been in ballgames just one mistake in 4 games cost them 5 wins last year and did well agianst a mitchell team that went to semi finals last year with only 23 kids they are gone win some more games get them in a true 1A conference and they will make some noise
2 and 0 now with a 14-0 win over Chatham Central. I hope they can keep it rolling and build some excitement.
I’m rooting for the coaching staff. They’ve got a nice thing going right now. The big test will be going forward. North Stokes and Chatham Central are abysmal.
Keeping the roster from falling numerically after they lose the next few games will be crucial. I think (and hope) that they will beat Lexington by at least 20. After that, their next best hope is to beat West Davidson.

Not sure what year but i think they won six games under coach shelton will see if i can find the year
Looks like it was 01 02 03 they went 6-6 under shelton that was also souths largest numbers they had 521 kids then
Twitter account says they are going to have a JV team the week after the holiday. That is a big shot in the arm for the kids and program. Win or lose the young ones will get playing time and a good program cannot exist without a JV team. Cats can go 4-6 likely and that would be a realy good year.
