I mean no disrespect to Mitchell but Northampton and Pender were both bigger and faster.Tarboro
Mitchell
Then the rest.
It’s always usually the case. Til Northampton gets rolled in the championship.I mean no disrespect to Mitchell but Northampton and Pender were both bigger and faster.
Great postI believe the "1A East is weak" talk comes from previous years play of teams in the split classifications, where teams like Robbinsville and Murphy consistently played in the 1A where the eastern teams were considerably weaker than the 1AA teams like Tarboro, Holmes, and Princeton.
Just wait until you meet an outstanding west team. Although Mitchell was great this year and they were the best team in the west, they are not what I would consider a great representation of a typical title contending west team.I believe the "1A East is weak" talk comes from previous years play of teams in the split classifications, where teams like Robbinsville and Murphy consistently played in the 1A where the eastern teams were considerably weaker than the 1AA teams like Tarboro, Holmes, and Princeton.
The bad thing is, that wasn’t a typical Tarboro team.Just wait until you meet an outstanding west team. Although Mitchell was great this year and they were the best team in the west, they are not what I would consider a great representation of a typical title contending west team.
You can stop now! We’ve said all year this was a down year for us, so you can say this isn’t the typical west contender, we can and have been saying the same thing all year, that we were down this year for us. Our staff did a tremendous job with this teamJust wait until you meet an outstanding west team. You didn’t see them this year. All those boys y’all played 19 were freshmenNorth Hampton..lol.
I've watched football for almost 60 years and North Hampton had the worst coaching staff and softest players I have ever witnessed..Anywhere
Then it’s a moot point. You’ve not seen our best and we’ve not seen yoursYou can stop now! Iß this the same Mitchell in the westI mean no disrespect to Mitchell but Northampton and Pender were both bigger and faster.
Yeah yeah. It’s mighty convenient that the talk all week was that Mitchell was going to “run Tarboro” and I saw a post last week that said “the state championship game was Robbinsville and Mitchell” - but now the talk is that the west was down this year.Tarboro was down from years past but this was the weakest west I've seen as far as top end teams go, literally ever. A lot of solid football teams in the west this year but no great teams. I said as much before the playoffs even got going, I thought Eastern Randolph might have met the criteria but after how Murphy handled them that wasnt the case.
You're barking up the wrong tree man, I never said any of those things. Personally I thought Tarboro was the favorite because they've been there and done that and I really thought Mitchell's M.O. offensively really played into Tarboro's strengths. Did I think it would be a tighter game than it ended up being? Yes, but credit to Tarboro.Yeah yeah. So you think the talk all week was Mitchell would beat Tarboro? Some may have thought/hoped that...but some of us out west knew there wasn't a real good team in the mountains. Try not to take the posts of one or two and assume that's the way all feel. Congrats on the Championship..well deserved.Yeah yeah. I understand that, but the majority of predictions this week on here were Mitchell over Tarboro. So you think the talk all week was Mitchell would beat Tarboro? Like I said in a post earlier, Murphy and Tarboro need to meet up in the title game one of these years. “Good” Murphy teams have the style, toughness, coaching, speed, and talent to throw at Tarboro. Might be enough, might not, but we gotta find out one of these years!Yeah yeah. Maybe...but also the majority thar I discussed it with felt Tarboro should win. Most thought it would have been closer than it actually turned out.I understand that, but the majority of predictions this week on here were Mitchell over Tarboro.
Northampton and Pender were both bigger and faster. "Is that the same Northampton team Robbinsville beat the ever loving S#$T out of a couple years ago? Bigger and faster dont help much when you are on your back in the backfield. Cant speak for Pender having never seen them, but that Northampton squad wouldnt have qualified for the playoffs, let alone belong in the SC game if they were in the West. TBH I felt Mitchell didnt have enough firepower to deal with Tarboro, offensively OR defensively. I hate to say this about Mitchell HS, but their offense seems to consist of a series of 25 QB sneaks with another sneak by another back thrown in once in a while. If all football offenses were like that I am afraid I would lose complete interest in this game, no matter how successful it may be..
I bet my whole banking account North Hampton would’ve smacked whatever 1A team you cheer for!!North Hampton..lol.
I've watched football for almost 60 years and North Hampton had the worst coaching staff and softest players I have ever witnessed..Anywhere
This was definitely one of the weaker teams that’s won a championship. Not from them not being good but from them being young. They only had 9 seniors on that team & two of them didn’t play all season. I don’t see them losing a game for the next two years imo. That’s a bold statement but I’m pretty sure they’ll back it upTarboro was down from years past but this was the weakest west I've seen as far as top end teams go, literally ever. A lot of solid football teams in the west this year but no great teams. I said as much before the playoffs even got going. As far as the 1A East being weak, I always gave Edenton credit during Tarboro's run, they were legit, but outside of them most years it was just literally Tarboro once Wallace Rose Hill and a few other good eastern teams moved up to 2A in 2017. I think generally speaking the 1A west is much deeper than the 1A east, not sure that's even really debatable.
I also think football is a game of matchups, Mitchell proved that they were the best team in the 1A west this year no doubt about it, but I do think there were other western teams that had they played Tarboro today, could have given Tarboro a better game.
You went from Mitchell was going to walk all over tarboro to the West is weakThen it’s a moot point. You’ve not seen our best and we’ve not seen yours
Bingo. Noticed alot bandwagon mountain fans and Robbinsville fans specifically with the most mouth. For whatever reason everyone ignored Tarboro and the rest of the east.I believe the "1A East is weak" talk comes from previous years play of teams in the split classifications, where teams like Robbinsville and Murphy consistently played in the 1A where the eastern teams were considerably weaker than the 1AA teams like Tarboro, Holmes, and Princeton.
Yawn…coulda, shoulda, woulda. In my opinion...with a smart coaching staff mt airy would have given tarboro a better game...#1 and #8 would have been able to move the ball better than Mitchell did today.
Yeah I've noticed for whatever reason tarboro Is hated by certain robbinsville posters. Idk what we did to them. You could have easily made the argument that the East was weak the last couple of years aside from us and edenton. But in my opinion you cannot make that case this year.Bingo. But yeah, the East always produced great teams from what I remembered. Was hoping to hear more about 1A East since joining the board. Too many mountain boys pretending to be Shelby and Reidsville.
Well maybe we can find out next yearIn my opinion...with a smart coaching staff mt airy would have given tarboro a better game...#1 and #8 would have been able to move the ball better than Mitchell did today.
