Well right now the East is downright boring how does that many schools stink all at once
I mean tbh..For the last couple of years it’s been the same teams that’s been dominating and that’s Robbinsville, Murphy, Mount Airy, East Surry(Now 2A), Mitchell & Eastern Randolph. I really don’t see a difference. It’s just y’all have more fans on these chats

Only difference is we know tarboro is a lock every year. In the west it’s one of about 6 teams

Idk, I thought the east turned out stronger than normal this year. I mean, sure, Tarboro is still probably gonna represent, but the 4 teams last week all had good records and were pretty good. And if Princeton had remained 1a, they would have a say so in 1a east...

Would have made things interesting if Princeton hadn't moved up this year. They're playing W-RH in the 2A East final, in their first year in 2A. Got sent 2A with a 585 enrollment under the new system.

Kinston playing up in 2A also hurt 1A east some.

Yes if those teams were in 1a the East would be very interesting. Tarboro probably still wins most of the time but the games would be better

I can't speak for southeastern 1A teams, but northeastern 1A teams just dont have the numbers to be competitive year in and year out. I would dare say that roughly 80% of the NE 1A schools have fewer than 350 students. Thats not a big talent pool to choose from. The schools that find success often are led by seasoned head coaches, with years of experience.

Plymouth (now known as Washington County after merging with Creswell) found the most success of these teams. From 2006-2016 led by coach Robert Cody. Plymouth was a force to be reckoned with, winning 3 state titles in 10 years. Yes, they were all small 1A, but 2 of those titles were against Murphy and Robbinsville. Plymouth regularly enrolled around 300 students during this time. They were the anomaly. Here lately, both Northside and Northampton have found moderate success, but still cant compete with the Tarboro's of the world because IMO they're at a disadvantage with numbers.

If I'm not mistaken Plymouth had over 400 kids.
Robbinsville has been about 350/370 (without an early college). Cherokee won in 17 with around 310. Andrews will be in the hunt next year with 200 kids.
According to the ADMs from 2015 on the NCHSAA website, Plymouth had 318 students that year when they beat Robbinsville. I couldn't pull up the 2012 ADMs, but being connected to the program at that time, I believe the number was around 330 when they beat Murphy.

That’s true but it is hard to be good every year when you’re that small. Next year’s team will be once in a generation for a school like Andrews, if that.
Last year's Andrew's team may could have completed for state if they hadn't lost so many kids to transfers and injury. They had more size than the group does now. My guess would be this years line averaged around 200lbs.

After seeing Princeton last night I think they would be representing the East in 1A this year. As much respect as I have for Tarboro and their posters up here, I feel like Princeton would beat them this year but it would be close. I’d say a TD better and that’s about it.

I think Shelby would represent the west in 1a.

Oh wait they are 2a as is Princeton.
