The Wolverines are playing solid ball this year and riding a 4 game win streak. All 4 wins came in domineering fashion, and their lone loss was a 35-28 back and forth affair with hendersonville, who just beat a very stout Pisgah. (Who was supposed to be head and shoulders above everyone else in the Mountain 6). We should learn alot more about both teams next week when Mitchelk hosts Polk, but with their stout line play, and ferocious rushing attack, are the Wolverines quietly setting up to be a 1aa contender before they move up to 2a next year?

Though I agree this will be Mitchell's biggest test of course we've been saying that about every game this year I'm not sure its because of the Hendersonville lost seeing that they lost to Mtn heritage 40-27 and Pisgah to be honest hasn't really beaten that good of competition the mtn 6 doesn't look very strong this year Brevard seems to have come on looking like the best team in it after their early lost to Mtn H I watched a little of their game with Smoky Mtn last night just because it was on youtube and they easily beat them while it took Pisgah overtime. And it's hard to go by the Avery game last night because of missing two weeks and only playing ACA and Madison it's hard to know how good they are. Probably the most important game so far to be sure not only for the conference championship but now your down to playing the other two 1A schools.
No doubt Mitchell will have to play very very well to get by Polk. Ollis always gets his kids to play at a high level and like most conference teams I am sure Polk looks at this as a revenge game after the past couple years. As far as playoffs if no injuries they can make a deep run.

Next week is for all the marbles for the 1a side of our conference. Yes I will have to admit that we are playing very good football and I have to give Ollis all the credit in the world for a great coaching job this year BUT until we beat Mitchell they are the kings of 1a. We did loose a great defensive player last night but in football it’s just got to be the next man up. This team has really surprised all of us with 2 senior linesman a sophomore QB and RB it’s a really young team that’s playing amazing football!!! But Friday is the biggest test of all
These two have a history of playing each other close (although it's been a little lopsided the last couple years), with the team winning that wasnt supposed to. I expect a good game, and as of now it will decide the conference champion, not just the 1a side.
can't wait till Friday , win loose or draw its going to be epic , I know myself and others had given up on this bunch really before the season started but they have gotten better ever week and are still improving especially the line play , the defense is where I really expected to be bad , once again they have proven me wrong I'm starting to believe this could be the year for the deepest run yet , only if we beat Mitchell though !!
Regardless of the outcome this week, Polk is poised for a deep run in my opinion. Very few times has an Ollis coached team beat themselves. It will take a good/great effort to defeat this Polk team. After watching some film the rb #14 is impressive. Runs extremely hard and has good speed.

I thank you for saying that 14 belongs to me , he's a very hard worker and great team player and this team has really out played expectations and still improving I'm extremely proud of this entire team , thanks for the kind words.
This will be a tough test for Mitchell especially since they are coming off a long break like Heritage was. If they start the game slowly Polk could jump out to a lead.

Yes #14 is a real special player .... a 15 year old sophomore that runs the ball that good and plays defense just as good is a real treat to get see play and to be such a good leader of the team ! This year’s wolverines have surprised all of us ..... I guess like this years Mountaineer have surprised y’all also..... and that’s a good surprise LoL
Polk county football is class all the way. We going to miss the competition next year. I hated to see Hendersonville go too
mopar your son is the one you just can't say next man up on , there's nobody there to fill in for him that can do what he dose , this team is really going to miss him and I'm gonna miss watching him!!
I no longer make predictions. I don’t like the taste of crow. This Mitchell team has surprised me a little bit. I knew they were a talented group but I figured it would be another year before it all came together. If they keep playing smart and disciplined, and remain healthy, they have another shot at a deep playoff run or more.
If I was looking at this game in a non partisan view then yeah I would probably pick Mitchell. I don't have film to break down to compare the two the only thing I have to look at is their schedule , roster , stats etc. But I don't take much in about the stats because Polk has played two 0-4 teams that just simply aren't good so that helps your stats , I do believe Mitchell has played better competition so far, But Polk lost to Hendersonville who lost to Mtn heritage the only team in common is Owen while Mitchell scored double the points Polk did hold them to 0 points. Line size look similar though I haven't see Polk I know Mitchell's line has been impressive this year. On one hand I wish Mitchell even if just Madison could have played last week keep the momentum going, one the other hand they've had extra time to prepare for Polk. I believe Mitchell can come out and play their game and with the intensity and fire to win like they did against Mtn heritage I don't see why they shouldn't win the game. But I know one thing about Polk they have a good coach who always has them ready , and a team who really has motivation to beat Mitchell especially since it's their last year for at least the next four as a 1A school, it's a big game possible conference title on the line and playoff implications ,so I do expect a close game no matter what.

These boys better be ready for trickery onside kicks, punt fakes, all kinds of option plays, anyone who watched the Avery game should know that, just hope we come out strong Mitchell by 7
I don’t make predictions on games that my teams playing in ...... superstition I guess LoL and not much of a crap talker either with football (because I don’t play .. fishing I will talk mad junk to ya ). Now the Hendo loss could have went either way and being the first game and all we looked pretty darn bad overall ( had some good moments) and Ollis has really built on the good moments and this team doesn’t even look the same. Now to the 2 teams that are 0-8 Madison and east Rutherford ( I just feel bad for them kids) but Avery and Owen didn’t seem like bad teams and are Huge compared to our size and they eye test said we was in BIG trouble!!! but then that’s why we play. Must have just happened I was looking online to find information and on Polk Sports facebook page they posted how to buy tickets to the game just 6 hours ago
Yeah I called someone at the high school just to make sure they got the call around 2 pm and that Pittman was trying to setup a away game tomorrow night with another school. I thought he said Forestview but according to Maxpreps they already have a game with Kings Mtn Friday unless something happened to that game. Homecoming and senior night will be the first home playoff game assuming the first one is at home

Yes ... Marshville, about 14 miles east of Monroe about 2h 50m from Bakersville they're a 2A school

I think the game should be rescheduled but not enough time in season. Our state did mess up by not playing football in the fall
