Catholic vs Jacksonville

They threw it a little more last year with the same QB but also had better options last year. Like I said previously, CC makes you do things you're simply not comfortable doing. Let me rephrase -- they're going to have to be successful throwing the ball against CC to win it. Similar to New Bern in 2014. They only completed 5 passes, two of those were 30+ & 60+ TD's.
NBBear without question it will have to be a balanced attack in order to win. If teams are not stopping you from running why would you throw it? We throw it when we need to throw it. If they stop the run like everyone who we have played this year claimed they were going to do and didn’t then we go to the air. Folks can continue to think we can’t throw the ball. I guess we will see Saturday. I agree with you though it’s going to take a balanced attack to be successful. Cards will be ready.

I know Beau and company will have a good game plan. I'm sure his dad is giving him some pointers as we speak.

Exactly!! See they are quick to say about the great coaching they have. However seem to forget there are two former head coaches in Jacksonville’s staff. Two of those coaches have won darn near 300 games apiece and have won multiple state titles. There is no question that Catholic has a great coaching staff. But we do also. There is allot of experience on the Jacksonville sidelines who know how to game plane and get kids ready for big games. Just coach Chip’s 40 plus years and coach Padgett’s 30. There is not much that they have not seen I am sure they will have our kids ready.

Jacksonville should not expect to win this game exclusively running the football. Greenville Rose and Havelock had success moving the ball against CC through the air. Both completed around 80% of their passes for over 200 yards.

In the 2017 title game, Dudley threw for 150 at a 67% completion rate.

Jacksonville will need to mix it up to expect to win. By mixing it up I mean throwing the ball 15-20 times.

Define success for me-

Rose was averaging 51 a game going in and got 20. Scored one TD on offense with one of the best athletes in the country.

Havelock averaged 52 and got 14. Had the ball for just 16 minutes. They had gone 12 straight games scoring 40 or more against those junior league teams and rushed for 76 yards while Catholic had the ball 32 minutes and rushed for 300 yards. Total domination.

They never exclusivley run the ball, but it is what got them here. Furthermore, who are you to say they have to pass so much to win? Havelock was primarily a passing team last year and lost. They averaged 276 yards a game passing and only 192 yards running. This year they averaged 182 passing and 294 rushing.

Against CC, Havelock only ran the ball 21 times and were held to 54 yards rushing with a long of 9 yards, no TD's. Their lack of a running game killed them. QB put up 224 yards and two touchdowns, but you're not going to win HS championship games passing the ball in NC. Furthermore, CC was down unitl the 4th qtr., so not exaclty a pounding of Havelock.

Jacksonville is going to run the ball. No way they abandon what got them here and pass 21 times. Also, do you really think CC will keep the Cards to a long of 9 yards running, 2.6 yards per carry and only 54 yards on the ground total like they did Havelock? Not happening. I'll be surprised if the cards don't break off a run of 54 on one play at least once.

CC looks a lot like Havelock this year. From video clips, it looks like they run one back or an empty backfield most of the time and let the QB find a hole. Exactly what Havelock did this year. And for those who think the Cards were lucky to beat Havelock at all, they should have won the first game and two lucky plays for Havelock to start the game was all Havelock really did against Jacksonville the second game. In the first game, JHS #1 running back was hurt on the opening kickoff and barely played after that. He ran a few times and was taken out of the game. A few bad turnovers also led to short fields and easy TD's for Havelock.

I'm telling you, this will come down to turnovers. If either team is +2 in the turnover column, they'll win. If they're equal or +1, it's a toss up.

Don't forget, the Havelock coach will also help us gamplan CC and know what to expect, We're tight like that.

LoL geez dude calm down. Go back to the beach, you have no earthly idea what you are talking about. Won't win in NC passing the ball LoL LoL LoL Havelock last year was a lot better then this years team and beat JHS twice last year. To say JHS wasn't lucky to beat havelock is a joke. Havelock choked plain and simple. Had the game won at half and started reserving rooms to stay in for the title game. It was a three score game at halftime LoL I give tons of credit to JHS for coming back. Yes JHS run game will get shut down completely. Btw Havelock coach will not help you game plan. Are you on the staff at JHS or did you play there or what. Have you seen CC play this year? Will you be at the game this weekend.

First of all dude, I wasn't dissing the military. I served myself. Again, just be thankful you're still playing. Man you're defensive. You're the one that needs to grow up and stay away until you do. You need to really respect your opponent. You compare yourselves to Havelock, that powehouse, that CC beat by two scores last year? You were very fortunate to win. You should be home right now. There's a reason you were down 28-7 at the half. Tone it down. CC faced a King's Mountain offense just as explosive as Jacksonville's. Held them to 7 points after they were averaging 40 points a game. They faced Sam Howell, a QB who is probably signing with Florida State. Their offense was probably more explosive than Jacksonville's. CC wins that one 28-7. You brag about beating 3A Havelock? Look at Weddington, rolling along into the 3AA championship game after mauling Mount Tabor. They finished 2nd in their conference to CC. CC beats them 20-0. I'm pretty positive you'll have a bit more respect for CC after Saturday. On the other hand, you are very verbose, like an opponent who knows he's overmatched but is desperate for confidence. Keep on little man. You're providing great entertainment.

I've looked up every team you've mentioned, and they are mostly passing teams. None of them averaged over 200 ypg running while Jacksonville is over 300 ypg.

And yes, there was a reason they were down 28-7. Opening kickoff return for a TD and JHS fumble on the kickooff after tha touchdown. They were down 14-0 in the first 25 seconds. There's also a reason JHS held Havelock to 7 points in the second half and scored 35. And? Havelock will be watching the game from home Saturday.

Who am I to say.....nobody really, but I know CC will take away the run and force Jacksonville to prove they can throw the ball. Jax better not be planning on running for 400 yards in order to win.

Make no mistake about it- I want Jax to run for 400 but it isn’t likely to happen.

Jacksonville does not have one player of Mike Hughes’ caliber and he only managed 80 yards.

As I posted earlier, it is unlikely they will run more than 50 plays and it will be difficult to gain rhythm and flow.

If Jax turns the ball over more than once they have 0 chance.

Sounds like I am a CC fan but I definitely am not. I want Jacksonville to win but without the ability to throw the ball I am not holding my breath. My earlier point was that teams can throw on CC but Jax’s passing game may not be up to the task.

I really hope I am wrong.

Are you on the staff at JHS or did you play there or what. Have you seen CC play this year? Will you be at the game this weekend.

Havelock was too reliant on the pass last year, which fell right into the gameplan of CC clock control ground game. I don't think they were better last year, but Jacksonville is far better this year than last ,which is why they are playing Saturday. They have all Sr.'s in the backfield, and Brinker was just a backup last year. He blew up this year and became one of the best in the state. Unless he is injured, he'll break off a 40+ yard run Satruday, mark it down.

Havelock choked? Outscored 35-7 in a half is a choke? OK. They were manhandled in the 2nd half, they didn't choke. Jacksonville came out intimidated to start the game. A lot was on the line, and there is no doubt they caved under the pressure in the 1st half. Especially after the worst start to a game possible. They gave up 21 points in the first quarter, then 14 for three quarters. Second half they had nothing to lose and played like it. They absolutely dominated Havelock.

Jacksonville had 377 yards rushing, which happens to be more than CC ran on Havelock last year. And that was with Havelock rushing for over 300 yards and eating up some clock against JHS, Last year, Havelock barely kept their offense on the field by passing so much, which allowed CC to pile up the rusning yards. That won't happen this year, since Jacksonville can eat up the clock as well. They won't fall into the passing trap.

I just don't see CC shutting down the Cards running game.

Bwaahahahahaha.....so true B&G, so true.

Don’t forget some of the others:

1. Blown calls. “I think the refs were paid off”(lol)

2. Sloppy field. “The ball was so waterlogged or we wouldn’t have shanked those FG kicks”

3. Injuries. “Our top six guys are out or we would have rolled you good”

These guys can get all the coaching help they need from whoever and watch all the film they can find on us. They’re gonna get bounced back to Jacksonville with a big fat L.

True, just the clips I could find. Mostly saw one back or empty backfield.

I would expect very limited empty backfield sets from them. One back out of a double wing. They will mix it up. Very deceptive.

This thread has become priceless. These guys remind me of the Reagan fans a couple years back. "Were gonna do this" "we ran for 300 yards on this team".......AWESOME!!

Someone ask Brodiwicz to come out in 5 wide just so I can see what a Catholic empty backfield looks like.....LMAO

You can’t convince these guys this. Jacksonville can’t even get on the field with these guys according to them. They will find out come Saturday that a football team showed up to play football game. They talk about respect your opponent which they are showing none. Nobody is going to bow down to them. Well maybe other teams did but not this one. You can bet on that. So let them keep talking thinking they got it in the bag. At any given time one missed tackle one guy gets blocked and these backs are off to the races. All this about they stopped this kid and that kid. Well you have not played these yet. Everyone has been stopping them all season and well you see where they are at.

If you want to talk football then fine. But don’t come on here all puffed up because you’ve done nothing yet! Again, get back to that base and learn respect!

Your hatred for Cards is so funny. Hear is something that no matter what you say... you have to buy a ticket to watch Jacksonville play for a state title and your boys will be recouping from the basketball game the night before.. lol Chew on that for a few.

So because someone disagrees with you by saying that CC is not just going to run over their team that’s disrespectful to you? You make no sense. Why don’t you learn to show respect for your opponents. You and athletes foot get on here talking all crazy and want to holler about disrespect. When your the only one here talking crazy. Everyone else is talking about football. But when you guys don’t hear anyone praising CC it’s a problem. Just post your predictions and let it be. We can go back and forth all week. Makes no difference to me sweet cheeks! Forgive anyone for no bowing down to CC.

Lmao!!! Now go back and read earlier post. Which one is it? Was this years team at Havelock worst or like several of their fans have stated this was one of the best teams that they have had in awhile? Which is it clown? Your funny as hell. Your hatred for Cards is so funny. Hear is something that no matter what you say... you have to buy a ticket to watch Jacksonville play for a state title and your boys will be recouping from the basketball game the night before.. lol Chew on that for a few.

Dude you haven't won anything yet. Your last title game appearance was 1994 and you LOST. Only title game you ever won was 1986. Come on dude be serious. You had a winless I mean winless 0-11 season six years ago 1-10 five years ago. You were homecoming games for 20 years dude get a damn clue. JHS has a good ball team but after Saturday was whopping you will go back Into witness protection program just stop. Your making your self look dumb.
