From the looks of the short video the skinny crowd at ACR tonight would make Asheville high proud of their support.

Trust me it was awful weather. I went to Tuscola a few weeks ago and they had a half empty stadium as well. People the days are just soft I guess.

SV came out to warm up with no shirts on so I thought they might be tough but then I saw they had 2 space heaters on their sideline. That just showed me they were a bunch of hairy backed Marys.

i got to tell you. ive seen worse weather to play football in but god this was awful.a few things surprised me at the game tonite. first as acr came onto the field getting ready to run to our sideline all of sun valleys players started taunting the rockets. whats that about? i dont recall ever seeing that at a high school game before the game even started!anyways it was a really good game. despite the weather it was close the whole game. neither qb could muster much of a passing game.that howell kid is amazing running the ball. several times he just drug 2 or 3 of our players down the field with him. he must be strong as a horse.our qb was just as effective though running very hard picking up several key first downs. i think the difference in the game tonite was our speed on offense and our defense played lights out. the secondary had 2 ints. congrats to sun valley on a great season and congrats to coach laws and his staff for making the adjustments to keep us in the game at the start when they had all the momentum. now on to the third round and mt tabor. Well, the 3 teams that had to travel a long distance went 0-3. For those who weren't worried about the travel the day after Thanksgiving, Bobby Poss strikes again. I am proud of my Rockets, they showed a lot of grit tonight.

I thought the weather was absolutely horrific tonight. I’ve seen Asheville high games in 6 inches of snow in blizzard like conditions, games in literal hurricanes and even went to a playoff game at tuscola in 2008 when it was 18 at kickoff and a game at Erwin where it was sleeting and blowing ice pellets sideways. Tonight was the worst weather I’ve ever seen at a football game. Both teams had to play in it, however I think if you were to go to the Reynolds coaching staff before the game and say “the weather is going to be so bad tonight that the passing games of both teams will be obsolete” OR “it can be 62 degrees and calm” they would choose tonight’s weather every time. First series of the game in decent conditions, Howell took them right down the field and scored a td, then the rain started coming down mixed with sleet and nobody could hold onto the ball. To me the game just seemed sloppy and predictable with hardly no ability to pass. Every run for both teams you thought there would be a fumble.

Also, I am a big sam Howell fan. I think he’s incredible but I watched him play Reynolds twice now and each time I felt like he did way too much dancing in the backfield, took way too many negative plays and never seemed to know when to just throw the ball away. He has one of the best arms if not the best arm I’ve ever seen from a high school q.b but after watching him for 8 quarters, he had a lot of “what the hell was that?” kind of plays.

On a side note, Reynolds coach Shane laws moved his all time head coaching record to 142-0 in games decided by one possession or less

SV coaches standing on our sidelines on our 40 watching our offense run plays pre game. Couple of SV players running length of the field on our sideline pre game. SV players running through our inflatable helmet pregame. SV players taunting our players as we are exiting our tunnel to start the game. That’s what I love about this game!! All of the shenanigans are just that, shenanigans. You can talk the talk, but in the arena you have to walk the walk. Great job Rockets! You won decisively and with class!! You stay classy Fairview!

You could tell Howell was a great passer but unfortunately even he could not do anything in those conditions. I would love to have seen this game in normal conditions. Congrats to the Rockets though.

Football is supposed to be played in the elements unless there is a danger to the players and fans. Yes, it was cold, sleeting and raining sideways but BOTH teams had to play in it. It came down to who could manage their game, overcome the elements and be mentally tough. The Rockets did just that and advanced. All the pregame crap by SV and all the showboating during warmups ( no shirts on like morons for example ) didn’t matter in the end.

I hate the showboating and smack talk. The shirts off is ridiculous, a coach even had his shirt off at Cox Mill. Disgraceful.

Regarding the conditions. I want to see the best players do what they do best without having elements or conditions be a huge component. If it is cold, it is cold. If it snows or sleets so be it but prefer the weather not be the main factor.

Same here. My shoes were full of freezing water. My pants were soaked. Only thing dry was upper body because of my jacket. Im pretty hard core with football and I finally said enough was enough.

I agree. Both teams had to deal with it. I think Reynolds had better running backs and that showed. I just really wanted to see what SV qb could do.
