Let's be honest, Hunter Huss has had the talent the in 2016 and 2017 to make deep runs in the state playoffs and have only been fair. They definitely could have won at Shelby in 2016. They have underachieved a little bit if I'm being honest though. From what I have seen over the years I would attribute that to poor coaching. While I do agree that this team has a bunch of talent I can't help but think they will find a way to blow it when it counts because history tells us that is what they do.

The current coach is in his 5th year and he inherited a program that he had to rebuild from the inside out. The first year he brought in a whole new staff with him. The first two years he played a ton of freshman and sophomores. In 2016 (3rd year)when Huss made a run and gave Shelby their toughest game in the 3rd round of playoffs, Huss wasn’t expected to compete for a title by conference coaches nor anyone on these boards in 2016. There were no Huss fans on here and I told everyone here in 2015 or 16 that Huss and KM were on the rise. If I remember correctly it was on a Burns/HH post. Last year I would say that HH underachieved some but they did beat Crest at Crest, and went to 2nd round of playoffs where the Huskies lost to a very good Weddington team. The Huskies are 5-0 this year so overall I don’t see how anyone can classify them as underachievers. The Crest-Huss game has the potential to be a classic defensively.
I agree it does have the potential to be a defensive classic. That was just my opinion from the outside looking in.

Who had the bright idea to schedule Hunter Huss for homecoming? You would think you'd schedule someone you would be favored to beat.
No I'm not kidding. Sweezy can throw the rock. Will we throw for 300 yards? No way. 200? Probably not in this offense. But he has the ability to throw enough to keep the defense honest.
Actually I am a high school football fan first and a Cleveland County football fan after that. I just enjoy great high school and college football. I’ve had relatives play at all of the Cleveland County schools and a couple have played at Huss, Butler, and FV. Thanksgivings are always entertaining when we are all together and talk high school football. So I am not a Huss fan in the typical sense but I want them to do well. I bleed black and gold however.
No Shelby fan has any good thoughts on the black and gold this year if that's what you're fishing for. Y'all are all ready for some hoops.
I think this will be the most talented team Burns has played so far this year and it will show. I'll take Huss 49-14.
With East Rutherford, South Point and a 1st or 2nd round loss still ahead, the black and gold will look more Black and Blue when The 2018 season ends

Speaking of the regular black and gold from across the creek it looks like they are down this year compared to last. After losing to Shelby and struggling with Cramer it appears if you can take Paysour out of the mix they’re not going to be hard to control. Huss and Crest both have good shots at them this year
Number 4 is a man amongst boys out there. I was also impressed with number 3. Y'all got some good ones coming up.
Well from what I heard #4 will be coming back home where he belongs next season.
He originally said that BUT I talked to someone that said he has changed his mind. The QB situation at Crest had a little to do with it. Even his teammates said he’s staying. That came from his cousin. I work with his Uncle in outter northern Cleveland County. You also know that as McDowell.
Whoever ends up with him will be getting a stud. He may be the next great one if he continues to grow and work.

Thanks for the compliment...I Kno Burns carries a tremendous amount of school pride and I wish you guys much success this season....I'm truly jacked up about our teams season and I hope they can keep the flags down and be the sharpest they can be....they will need it down the road...
That game will be won in the trenches....If our O line can keep flags down so we can put up numbers...and we play good special teams....I think our defense will keep them bottled up....Crest will come to play no doubt.....I feel good about our chances....but first we have to concentrate and get ready for KM....
Nobody mentions the helicopter though. Suspect if you ask me. I mean, you didn’t ask but had you asked it would be sketchy. Did Burns hire a new OC and DC in the offseason? Defense is just different and not as aggressive. The offense is terrible. How many times can they run up the middle before we realize it’s not working. Huss is very good!
