After getting as close as it gets to obtaining that elusive first state title, it’s time to pick up the pieces left and rebuild.

From the talks I have had with close ties to the program, Holley and Co. has high hopes again this season. I know we lost a lot of talent and leadership last year, but I’m really hoping these young men can abide by the system that the coaching staff has put in place. I mean, you see where it got us last year.

My prediction is to finish top 2 with Wallace in the conference and hope to make another deep run in the playoffs. We finally broke the seal on the championship game, I just hope these young men are as hungry as the group we had last season.

Anyone else have any insight on Panther football or predictions?

How many of the running backs graduated last year? I know there were a ton of them.

At least 3. QB graduated as well. But our JV only dropped 2 games last year by a combined margin of 3 points.

JV QB throw it? That has hurt hibriten through the years, and then you have to find someone to catch it. lol I was very impressed with ed last year, tough group of guys, would love to see both those teams back together in dec, i think we would all be happy if that happened!

Checked out ED tonight in scrimmage action at Wallace Rose Hill with South Columbus and East Bladen.

ED definitely not the same team as last year especially on defense but were better than both EB and SC. Looked like coaching staff playing a lot of people on both sides of the ball. Overall looked pretty good but I think it will be a work in progress.

Wallace Rose Hill and Ashley were also participants. Ashley looked overmatched in what I saw. In my opinion, WRH was head and shoulders over everyone else. ED did not scrimmage WRH or Ashley since they play both in regular season.

Glad football is back!

I don't think WRH loses to ED this year. Cardinal and Havelock may be another story but I wouldn't put it past the dogs to win one or both of those games.

Havelock won't be a cakewalk either I look for you guys to be much improved
Havelock will be good but WRH beat probably the top team Havelock has ever had last season. I think WRH handles Havelock. ED on the road both teams will be very motivated, toss up game. This is not the same JK from the past 2 seasons we may score a few TD’s but WRH handles us. I was just looking at the schedule and IMO that 2 game stretch with Cardinal Gibbons Is tough to say the least. Both teams could very well have 1 loss apiece coming into that game. Add in the rivalry, what rides on that game, must wins. It’s August and that’s already going to be best game of regular season.

best team Havelock has ever had would have never lost to WRH last year. not that WRH wasnt a great 2A team, but those legendary 3A Havelock teams didnt lose to 2A teams. they destroyed pretty much everybody.

I definitely agree with this. Some of those Havelock teams were downright nasty.

Top 2 in ECC with WRH? I wouldn't countout the DarkHirses this season. This group won the JV championship the past 2 season, mostly the same athletes. New coach, new system, they have we the realistic possibility to be really good.

WRH is very confident and they should be they have earned that. But they are a beatable team this season. Overconfidence could hurt the Dogs. I believe the last time they came to JK to start the season in 2015 with Glaspie and Canady they went home with a L. WRH should win Friday night and they are the more talented team, but anything could happen.

Packhorses no they haven't. And also, nobody that has scrimmages WRH has scrimmaged against a decent defense either!
