Unfortunately this event has become an after thought in the County, because of the unavoidable conflict with the American Legion World Series. With that said, tonight's line-up for the 19th Annual Cleveland County Jamboree @ Kings Mtn High School.

6:00 CREST vs West Forsyth
7:00 BURNS vs AC Reynolds
8:00 SHELBY vs JM Robinson
9:00 KINGS MTN vs Newton-Conover

Gates open at 5:00 - Admission $10.00

I will try to post any updates or changes due to Weather. Not ideal situation for a very good gate.

I was looking forward to this as if these were official games. Hoping the rain/storms hold off, and we can all attend and enjoy this event.

Whew WF has D1 material everywhere and is one of the biggest schools in the state!

Agree .............Prior to Legion stuff this was a very, very big deal. Anything even in the Star about it ?

Well, if you go to the "High School" area of the sports section on the Stars website, the first 8 "articles" are about the ALWS. The first article dealing with Burns/Crest/Shelby/Kings Mtn Football is from back on July 21st.

It's a shame what has happened to the "local" paper. This is what you get with all of these companies buying them up and then cutting costs. Very little local is left in the local paper. I think the Star is doing what it can with what it has. How about getting Alan some help instead of using the guys from Gastonia?

Good effort by the Chargers tonight. Beat West Forsyth 23-14. O Line showed marked improvement over last year. QB Kimmerlin made 2 beautiful long passes for TD's. Only negative i saw was Crest DB's could not cover the WF receivers. #16 for burned several times. 2 for TD's. Got work to do next week. Luckily South Point rarely throws.

First time posting but I have read this site for a long time. My thoughts on the three games I saw:

Crest and W. Forsyth
I think WF is a pretty decent team. I know they are ranked 10th in preseason but that means nothing at this point. They had some pretty physical players.
Crest has a pretty good defense but not the defenses they have had in the last few years. Not as many "D1" size players out there.
Offensively Crest is a little different. They look more organized than last season but with it being a new style they struggled to run the ball. That is not normal for Crest but it is still early. QB had a nice touch on the long passes. Crest does not have the dominant look but could be pretty good by conference time. It was a pretty good game.

Burns and ACR
Very sloppy game but this early in the year it makes sense. For ACR to be ranked 3rd in the State I thought Burns defense played pretty good. They held them to 6 points even with ACR missing a few studs. ACR is a really good team and it should be a good year for them. As far as Burns, I was very surprised. I expected them to look a little more down this early. They are starting a ton of sophmore players. I know they made a lot of mistakes but this early I expect that with the inexperience. This team can be very good and at times you could see it on the offensive side of the ball. They just need to cut out the miscues. All the mistakes made can be fixed. Defensively I thought Burns looked as good as Crest if not better at times up front. Mosteller looks like a force out there. Burns had a bend not break defense. The only ACR TD came after a huge turnover deep in our own territory. Defense was on the field a little too long. I know that this will be the last down year for Burns for a while. There are some really good years coming from what I saw on Wednesday.

Shelby vs JMR
Shelby will win 5 in a row. They have more depth than any team out there. Lance has it rolling over there like years before. There is nothing more to say. Shelby just dominated.

I was told the same thing. I took that in mind while watching. I know they are probably much better than what we all saw. You could tell they were well coached. I did not expect Burns to look horrible but we lost a good bit last year. Like I said, we can be a good team by the end of the season. We made too many mistakes but fortunately we can fix the ones we made. Shelby has a fine team man. To lose that many players on offense they just keep rolling. Pretty impressive.

Camron could throw it 50 yards as a fifth grader ! He's going to be a special talent ! He came by practice the other night and he's as tall as me now almost ! What a great kid , glad to know him and I'll be happy to see his name all over the papers in the years to come

I was at Ac Wed. Nite,
Saw them scrimmage Freedom, they looked really good till started losing people.
Im sure David will work out bugs on Burns

Shelby lion I was thinking that you had said that he played for you in youth FB so I was watching him pretty close and was impressed with what I saw and I believe that a kid named RJ ? WR ... Wow that kids got some hands and hops

Mopar yeah I helped the midget team coach Setzer a year or two when he was there , exceptional talent And such a respectful young man , he's going to be something else before it's over ... great to hear names of kids I got to help coach over the years ... glad I got to be a small part of their lives for a few years ..

SHELBY looked very good.
CREST looked good.BURNS and KM has some work to do.
