I agree to an extent, but your motive for saying that is centered around Carolina blue.
I bet he can run the jet sweep better than anyone in college football. Good luck to the kid, there is just too much talent at the Capstone with Damien Harris coming into the mix.
I could see this coming a mile away and predicted this as soon as he committed to Alabama. Many kids love the accolades that comes with being recruited by a big time school like Alabama. Alabama recruits the elite of the elite every year at his position. BJ was a really good high school back but Saban recruits nationally and stockpiles GREAT running backs every year. He also has no problem with forcing a player out to free up a scholly if a better player comes into his view or a kid doesn't develop to his expectations. Welcome to the SEC football.
I can't totally agree with this. As a true freshman, while healthy, BJ played and contributed at Bama. The injury was huge and very hard to recover from at a college like Alabama especially at RB. Hopefully things go well at juco level and in 2018 returns to big stage.
Wonder what the chances are he might go to Tennessee. I have read that is dad was a Vol fan and they used to watch games together. Could be the next Alvin Kamara for Tennessee.
A school like Bama will out recruit you at your own position. They stay loaded at RB, the biggest strongest backs every year. Guys get star struck by the big name. Then chose a school they shouldn't attend. Depth chart alone should've pushed him elsewhere. Even in -state schools have not been a good decision. For some NC HS players. I know a few who went to UNC and Ncst. Great players never really touched the field in college. When they would have been standouts at App st. or WCU. But the lights aren't bright enough for them.
I agree 100%. Many think that because a player may have been the best they have seen come out of Burke Co. or their particular area that this ensures greatness at the next level especially if a big time school comes calling. There are great high school players at App State, East Carolina, NC A&T, and of course the bigger in state schools. Great high school players. I've attended UNC'a Freak Show where they bring in only the top guys they are recruiting. The level of talent there is eye opening. Then there is Alabama. Great player stacked on top of great player. BJ would have been better off going somewhere else. Same thing happened a few years back when Ledbetter from Crest committed to Florida. Never should have gone there.
Ledbetter going to Florida was more of a package deal. They took bullard along with him. Ledbetter was a great RB and tackling safety. He struggled in pass coverage thats why SEC was too much for him. Now he's playing at Southern University in Louisiana. Again kids going with the big lights not the best fit.
I mostly agree with this. Ledbetter was a good high school back but his lateral quickness wasn't good enough for him to be a major d-1 back. His height impacted him being a d-1college safety and he did not have d-1 lateral quickness to play corner. He was really physically developed coming out of high school so he didn't have much room to grow without it affecting his mobility. That's the other piece you have to have the right physical measurables along with the game. All things that someone should have been honest with him about this. I have some friends who are huge Crest fans and I attended one of their games when Ledbetter played. I basically broke it down to them and all the other Crest fans around that night why he would struggle on the next level. You can be great in high school but get pushed to the back of the line when you go to the next level.
I agree, if you can't play CB how can you play Safety. Similar positions you still have to cover guys. Your right he was chiseled up out of HS. To the point I think it made him to stiff which I believe affected his lateral movements.
