Just surprising. I won't reveal it out of respect, but it's going to be interesting for sure.

I have heard over the last year or so that Sexton and Bucky Tarr would retire after this year. That rumor died down once the season got started but I did hear that back in the summer.

He's staying as Erwin's ad.

No idea where we go from here, but I wouldn't mind a defensive minded coach. Really hope we can find someone with a proven track record.

Both ACR TBs graduate, Poore would fill that spot nicely! Hahahaha!!!!! Just playing Erwin fans, hope you get a quality coach because having good teams is necessary for our conference.

I have heard of some transfer rumors but I won't divulge any details. I will say it doesn't involve Asheville or Erwin.

Interesting....Maybe a certain rb from Swannanoa wants to come play for a winning program.

Can we have Poore? I'm not kidding lol
Seriously has anybody in wnc history ever been as handcuffed as Isaiah Poore has been at Erwin? Maybe I'm giving him more credit than he deserves, but he seems to be incredibly good to me and they refuse to let him be "the man".

Come on Bama, let's hear your spicy news!

Also North Henderson coach must not have wanted to compete with the MAC teams next year. Lol ;)

It will be tough to replace Sexton he really did do a great job at Erwin. I would imagine him being the AD the next Coach will probably be someone already on the staff.

The 99 team was better than the 2002 team and the 2002 team was better than the 2009 team in my humble opinion.
The '99 team won the 4A state title prior to any dividing. There was no A and AA divisions so yes I agree they were the best because they beat the very best teams in 4A. There was only 4 state champs back then and being the 4A champion was a great accomplishment.

Unless that's Bucky Tarr I would not be very happy about that. Not trying to be offensive, but what has anyone else on staff done to deserve consideration for the job?

I just think that it would be smart to keep the cultutre of the program yhe same. You are on the best run in program history, why bring in a new coach that doesn't know the school or community? Hiring within worked out pretty well for reynolds. I believe Laws only had 1 season as the oc before he was hired. Before that he was just a position coach. With that said I don't know anything about erwin assistants outside of Tarr.

I would go out and seek a young and upcoming coach no matter where they are from. Coach Laws was just that for ACR he was a coach under Poss and McCurry and was groomed for the job. Finding a young coach that will stick with the school and community for years to come is important. I wish them best of luck finding a coach, the MAC needs Erwin and TCR both to be good. Next year I hope Tuscola, West, and North Henderson all up their game and make the conference a tough battle night in and night out. Strong conferences make teams better come playoff time.

What about Rhoadarmer at Madison. He coached in the MAC for years and did a great job with that program this year, oh and he lives on Newfound. Just a thought. Congrats to Coach Sexton, he changed the culture of Erwin High School and should be very proud of that. I enjoyed watching his teams play ball.

I had a feeling this was going to happen when Coach Sexton took the ad job last year. It makes me wonder if the players and other coaches knew about this last week. There was just a different feel about that Reynolds game. It was almost like they didn't want to be there. Don't get me wrong, Reynolds is good, but not 60-7 good. With that being said I really hope Bucky Tarr gets that job. Coach Sexton gets a lot of the credit but I think Tarr is a big part of the turn around at Erwin. Who knows..

Poore is not going anywhere. I know him and his family personally. Asheville high has been after this kid since he was in the 4th grade and he didn't leave. Other local schools were as well but not as heavily as the cougars. What is funny is I found out some of the tactics they used. You would never think this stuff happens in high school. That being said, I agree with ahscougar1. He has played on a pass heavy team all 3 years. This year he had over 1000yds and 15 td with a qb that had close to 4000 yds. Next year he should have a huge season. All depends on the coach though.
