after losing our best all around player j merchant before the season even started, then losing D.Burns our senior quarterback before halftime leading in the burns game to a season ending knee injury and then having to start a jv sophomore quarterback the last six game of the season in which we when 5 and 1. just wanted to tell the team and coaches what a great job they did coming together finishing the season 8 and 3.

Great season. I've never seen a team at any level suffer the injuries year in and year out that KM does.
Well I hate to rain on the back patting parade but I believe that this team underachieved the last two years. This is no more than a loser's limp in my opinion. It's exactly this type of attitude and environment that leads to KM being the only team in Cleveland County without a state title. A championship program has to have a championship mindset not being happy going 8-3. 8-4 is what good programs do when they are in rebuilding mold. With everything that KM had they still managed to lose three games that they had no business losing. I am sure that one of the KM minions will be sent here to make excuses and mock this assessment but they better be ready for return fire back..

It's football crybaby every team loses good players during the season. You lost Jake in the preseason and D. Burns in the middle of the Burns game with most of the conference schedule left. You didn't lose them in the middle of a playoff run. You also had your qb against FV and lost to an inferior opponent. Basically you are telling me what I already know, a state championship is not your goal because [insert this years excuse]. EL is still trying to win a title and they lost Sage, Shelby is still trying to win a title without their best rb, Monroe lost their do everything qb who their team was built around, but a team that was preseason top 5 in 3A tosses in the towel because they lost a player before season started and one in middle of season. I could go on and on about teams who lost players but their goals didn't change. Like I said previously not championship ready but at least you have the pretty balloon to run through in pregame...

why so hostile at KM I sure the kids did the best they could. I know they play hard every game and that is all you can ask of them. i know for a fact they did not thrown in the towel on this season.
Merchant was a beast and was a huge loss for the Mounties. Hope that kid is playing on Saturdays next year as he certainly has the talent.
I am not hostile to the kids at all. It is not their fault that their coaches do not put them in the best position to win every game. Also this is not directed at the kids. My point is KM underachieved with the talent they have and the program will continue to underachieve because it is satisfied with moral victories. KM needs a major coaching shakeup on their staff if they truly want to achieve more than moral victories.

Kings mountain beat Crest for the first time in over ten years...without those players you mentioned...crest sucks this year...I'll admit, but that is still impressive for kings mountain. They'll be fine.
Slow clap. KM was suppose to beat Crest this year. That wasn't an upset. The people who really know and follow football knew that Crest would be down this year. All of those same people also knew that Crest o-line was going to be a problem for them. If Crest is your super bowl than make it your super bowl when they aren't a shell of the team they use to be.
Jake was heart and soul of our team. the team missed his leadership most all. Jake has signed to enter the naval academy next year and play football.
The season is over. Are you pulling for Shelby or South Point from here on out? Can never tell where KM loyalties go. Well, actually I can, usually towards Gaston County from what I've seen.
It sounds to me that you have a grudge against one or more of the coaching staff. maybe you should confront them with your concerns.
both are great programs I have a lot of respect for both but being a life long Mountie fan it would be hard to pull for either team since they both beat us consistently. but good luck to both in the third round.
No, I know exactly one member of the coaching staff at KM and really think he does a great job. My comment was in relation to the people who live in KM and wish that the city limits were a few feet across the county line in Gaston instead of Cleveland. It's sort of a known thing.
When is telling the truth considered holding a grudge? Are you speaking for the coaches now lol. I love talking football with anyone including coaches. Predictable response from this crowd at KM.
