That's a high spot to have Beamer. ADM numbers have been 2a for a couple years. Hibriten might have been the East Lincoln of the west had it not been for the realignment year. Pretty solid to be a 2A school with 3A talent and #1 rank.

I just can't see Hibriten not winning the next four years conference title if the tradition holds.

Wow. They won't lose a game in conference for the next four years. That may be the weakest conference in the west. Just think about it, one of those teams will finish second and have a good record. Yuck.

Hope the poll looks that way in December.

Eastern Guilford is a very good team. They're in what I consider one of the toughest 3a conferences in the state. Little low in rankings I think

Terrible timing. Crest works their way back to an Honorable Mention just before playing Burns and Shelby. Oh well, back to relative obscurity.

Hibriten Middle School has a strong 8th grade class that went un-Beaten. Maybe the best 8th grade class in last 10 years.

West Craven has been one of the smallest 3A's for years. I've never wanted them to fall to 2A because of being in the conf with Havelock and I've always enjoyed our rivalry. However the numbers got us and we go to 2A next year. It will be better for us as we become a big fish in the pond now but I'll miss playing Havelock and I'll miss the times when our games really meant something. I guess I should start reading the 2A boards and get to know guys. lol

Okay...this is just sad, the weakest conference (arguably) has the number one team in the state in 3A....nope, I ain't buying it. Havelock or west craven or somebody has to be ten times better out east.

You guys will get to know us very well Otis. We will be right there singing the western tunes. Craven County is a hotbed of football. Looking forward to the upswing in eastern power teams.

Some truth in this considering the size of schools but 4A Watauga is a very good team and Hibriten won. I'm pleased Hibriten is at the top but West Craven's victory over Havelock should have vaulted them to the top. Afterall Havelock was ranked #1 and West Craven blemished thier record. Only thing left now is the real proof- the playoffs.

Offensive line just hasn't been able to overcome inexperience and injuries. Defense will keep Crest in the game but offense will not be able to move the ball consistently against your defense. Crest can win but it will take burns turnovers, timely penalties and special teams play.

I feel Hibriten is on a mission. The only
challenge thus far has been Watauga... and
that offense would confuse the devil
himself. Playoffs don't lie, so the proof
Will come in a few weeks.

agreed wataugas offense is confusing and very strong at the same time. a few of those teams are ranked to high in my opinion but give them credit for their records at this point. the playoffs will show who the pretenders and the contenders are.

After that whooping, I would say Weddington should be the favorite out of the West. They have looked very strong recently in one of the strongest conferences in the West. I was shocked at how bad they won that game. We'll have to see how they play the last two weeks.

I'm not going to look at polls too much. I agree it is nice seeing your team at the top but I have watched our team in years past go undefeated or maybe have only 1 loss and have to play on a long road game in first rd and go out playing flat. Last year we had our bye week after our last regular season game. The week off before the playoffs seemed to hurt as we lost to Jacksonville in first round. a team that we had beaten earlier. We also had that bye again this year the week before playoffs but the hurricane has disrupted things enough we have the bye now after Jacksonville and we will play a game the Friday before playoffs.
I think we have one of the best teams we have ever had. Our defense is stout. D.H. Conley has a qb that a lot of schools are looking at and a reciever as well. They scored throwing the ball on their first to drives against us and the coaches moved the db's around and put a faster kid on the #5 reciever. D.H. Conley never scored again. The Qb threw 3 int's with 1 a pick 6. 55-14 was the final. Our team has a lot of seniors and when they get going they are tough to stop. I really like our chances if we can win out and play some games at home.

Same here, it will take the same for Burns to beat Crest. may come down to a missed PAT or a game winning field goal etc...

Understandable, are most of the o line 10th and 11th graders ? Are you guys going to 2 man rotation at QB still or has that gone away ?

I agree EAinCharlotte. No offense at all to Eastern Alamance but how would you rank them that far ahead of Western Alamance when WA beat them fairly soundly a couple weeks ago. Whoever ranks these teams (and I realize its just for fun) do a little research!

I agree Deana and I appreciate your work. Didn't mean to sound demeaning in any way. It just didn't make sense why you would have EA ranked so much higher than a team it soundly lost to. Yes WA has 2 losses but one was to Butler, which they were very much in the game with for 3 quarters, and a 5 point loss to a very good Eastern Guilford team which came down to the last play. WA and EG are far above EA this year. Maybe not in the last few but the previous years don't matter. EA has not beaten anyone this year with a winning record.
Anyway, I do enjoy the polls and ultimately the play on the field on Friday nights is all that matters. I just think you missed that one bad. Just my opinion but I respect yours.

To be honest, both teams were preseason ranked. WA lost to powerhouse Butler and dropped some while EA moved up some. Then WA beat EA and so they moved up and EA dropped. EA has won each week and benefitted from other teams losing including WA to EG. EG was not pre-season ranked and has slowly moved their way into the Honorable Mention and now in the poll.

EG wins they will ranked above both WA and EA. A win by EA will keep them where they are depending on what the other do.

I agree that it's just opinion-based on a lot of factors. It's something to get the fans talking. No apology needed. I was just saying I've done this sort of thing for football and basketball and put my name and site on it.

2 juniors and 3 sophs on O line right now with a Junior and a Soph on the disabled list. Coaches have had to raid the JV roster for 2 linemen last few weeks.

Also, Eastern Guilford should be ranked ahead of Eastern Alamance. EG defeated Western Alamance and EA lost to WA convincingly.
