Brevard beating Franklin will wake them up against Pisgah next week. Going to be a fight. As if it already wasnt.
I'm not knocking Franklin (they've got a heck of a program), but aren't they down this year?

They beat a good 1A team and a bad 1A team in Murphy and Swain, but lost to Asheville (2-3), Erwin (2-4), and Brevard (4-1 with the loss to Madison). It just seems like they aren't as good as usual.

Every time people think that Franklin is going to be down, it bites them. I have quit trying to think of them in those terms.

They had no business losing to Asheville. Erwin they should.

Ashcougar1, that is strange. Didn't think about Franklin being 0-3 in the Pit. Wow.
Jumbob, it's always a battle when Franklin and Pisgah get together no matter the records.

Brevard? Madison lit Brevard up for 47 points en route to beating them, so while Madison is improved that seems like kind of strike against how good Franklin's latest loss is.

Give me Pisgah by a couple of scores, I think the game between the Bears and the Mountaineers is destined to be a "game of the year". Not to look by Franklin because they've been good for a long time and they have pride, but I think the balance of power may have shifted for a bit.

We will have a tough time beating Pisgah next Friday. We are talented but young. We also have some key injuries on both O & D lines. We lost our center late in the 3Q and the O struggled afterwards. Not to take anything away from Brevard as they were down 14-0 in the 1Q & 35-14 late in the 3Q & never gave up. We are scoring but we have to fix things on D quickly!

Similar to Brevard as the defense hasn't been as sharp as the offense. Gave up a 31-6 lead to Madison.

I'd just like to point out that Tuscola beat Patton (4-1) and Smoky (4-1). Put 68 on Patton and 56 on Smoky. Mountaineers can be beat, as can anyone, but you better be prepared to score 50 to do it.

Pisgah up 50-0 in the fourth.

EH is also a winless team, and one with about 25 varsity players. I think they average losing, this year, by about 5-6 TDs. If you hadn't been in in the 40's, at the minimum, your offense wouldn't have a pulse.

Since this post was about Haywood County, since no one had posted the Pisgah score and Pisgah is in Haywood County.I thought I would post it.Didn't know I was supposed to go into detail.

Going to be an interesting week in Haywood for sure. Add the convenience of one team playing on Thursday, the other on Friday and both at home.

Some teams play defense I wouldn't count on scoring 50 every game.

Offence scores points ,defense wins games. That being said if Tuscola scores fifty points they should win.

Still interesting in the Wood.. To be continued
If you all would play somebody good then you can brag. Beating one of the worst Asheville teams in recent history is not a good measuring stick. Wait till you play somebody that is halfway decent then we will see how good these teams are but until then don't crown both schools.

Lol. I hear it every week on here. "Blank team plays defense this week, unlike the other teams you've played."

I know Brevard is much improved, just don't see them coming into CEWeatherby on Thursday and winning. Fastest THS team I've seen in 30 years across the board. There have been individual players perhaps with more speed (Leon Williams, Nathan Sutton, Bryce Meyers) but never this many. They literally have 5 guys that can house it every time they touch the ball. Very unusual for the Mountaineers. Not my favorite offense by any stretch of the imagination, but might just be the perfect fit for these players.

This being a TV game, it'll be interesting to see how it interrupts the flow of Tuscola's offense. It'll give Brevard's defense a chance to rest. I feel like in the Pisgah/Asheville game it slowed Pisgah's offence down, kept it out of rhythm. If it had been a regular game, I feel like Pisgah would have scored a couple more times.

If you think I'm crowning pisgah you probably accidentally ate paint chips as a child. Just stating the fact that the two Haywood County teams haven't lost yet. Both teams can be beat but as of right now that's not the case

It isn't like we're running a no-huddle Oregon offense so that will have little effect. Now does the hoopla of being on TV phase them? Don't know. Many of the linemen play both ways so they can stand a rest too. Part of the problem that I have noticed with TV games isthat the coaches and officials don't pick up on the fact that the teams don't need to come out of the huddle as fast. If the tv crew has a "red hat" like college games, they should be holding up the ref from bringing them back out too quick. I noticed in the R-ville-CS game that the broadcast missed some plays after commercial so maybe they don't.

Last year I thought some players maybe got to reading their press clippings too much prior to McDowell and it bit them. There is a much greater focus on being levelheaded so far this season. The Smoky players were calling them out all last week on social media and they were smart enough to ignore it. Friday night they responded the way they needed- by totally dominating the first half on both sides of the ball.

Brevard beating Franklin definitely made things more interesting. Perhaps Franklin isn't the big, scary monster they've been but I'm not ready to call them out of it yet.

You forgot Josh Adams- still think he's the fastest they ever had.

We've given up 80 or 16 ppg. The last two, 13, total. It isn't like we're winning arena league games.
The Bears have shut out last two teams and give up a total of 28,held Asheville to their lowest points so far,14.So yeah we play defense pretty good and I agree Tuscola plays offence pretty good.Want be much longer til we find out what counts the most.

I think it would do us all well (Haywood County) to take one game at a time!! Brevard and Franklin will come to Compete, not lay down!........we will see what unfolds in October
Yup 3 weeks and two teams to face before all that hubbub cranks up.

You guys forget about Eric Nelson? I think he was pretty fast and had great hands. One of the best receivers Tuscola has had.

Looking at the record books Nelson was by far the best receiver Big T has ever had. Over 1,700 yards and 20 TDS senior year alone. Of course he was also playing with the best high school QB ever from WNC. I can't imagine Brosius slinging the ball to the speed that's at Tuscola now. It might have been just enough to get them past West Rowan back in '09.

That's what I'm saying Jub's. Without Eric would Tyler have had the records that he does? Maybe not. One will never no I guess.
